Klippel-Feil syndrome (KF) is a rare disease defined as single or multi-level cervical vertebra fusion. KF could be accompanied by other spinal anomalies or isolated, and in which case necessity of whole spine screening is not clearly known. KF is investigated in terms of prevalence, gender distribution, fusion types, and frequency of accompanying anomalies according to types of KF. ⋯ Klippel-Feil prevalence is 0.309%, it is frequently observed in women, and at C2-C3 level. Additional anomalies are especially associated with 'contiguous fused segments' and 'upper level' types. Klippel-Feil with scoliosis is an indicator of increased risk for associated anomalies, and examination of the whole spine is recommended.

Tubular microdiskectomy (tMD) is one of the most commonly used for treating lumbar disk herniation. However, there still patients still complain of persistent postoperative residual low back pain (rLBP) postoperatively. This study attempts to develop a nomogram to predict the risk of rLBP after tMD. ⋯ This nomogram including preoperative LBP VAS score, FO, FJD and MFA can serve a promising prediction model, which will provide a reference for clinicians to predict the rLBP after tMD.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) represents a difficult challenge for spine surgeons, due to the association of a structural scoliosis, with a prevalence between 15 and 86%. Conservative therapy is a viable option, but surgery is increasingly becoming the treatment of choice. ⋯ Spine surgery represents a convincing option in patients affected by PWS, but the risks of complications are high. Correct patient selection must be the main objective, and multilevel pedicle screw fixation should be the procedure of choice. Traditional growing rod should be prudently evaluated in every single case.

To study the long-term outcome of revision microdiscectomy after classic microdiscectomy for lumbosacral radicular syndrome (LSRS). ⋯ The long-term results after revision microdiscectomy for LSRS show an unfavourable outcome in the majority of patients and a high risk of re-revision microdiscectomy, with similar results. Based on also the disappointing results of alternative treatments, revision microdiscectomy for recurrent LSRS seems to still be a valid treatment. The results of our study may be useful to counsel patients in making appropriate treatment choices.

The PDDD is a ratchet-based, unidirectional expandable rod to treat adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), primarily by correcting scoliotic deformity without full spinal fusion. We hypothesized that the device will be fully tolerated by the host and, if aseptic screw loosening occurs, it will be unrelated to wear particle formation. ⋯ The PDDD induced minimal host reaction with little or no degeneration, inflammation or fibrosis. No changes present could be expected to promote device failure. The PDDD implant for treating AIS is well-tolerated and locally safe.
