Validation of the Chinese version of the resilience scale and its cutoff score for detecting low resilience in Chinese cancer patients.
We aim to investigate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Resilience Scale (RS-14) and to determine the cutoff score of the RS-14 for screening Chinese cancer patients with low resilience. ⋯ The Chinese version of the RS-14 has good validity and reliability, and it can measure the resilience of Chinese people. The cutoff score of 64 for the RS-14 is appropriate for detecting cancer patients with low resilience in order to decrease psychological stress and improving quality of life. Health care nurses can screen and detect cancer patients with low resilience based on the said cutoff score to timely provide psychological care and interventions for the patients.

Quality of care for cancer patients on home parenteral nutrition: development of key interventions and outcome indicators using a two-round Delphi approach.
Clear recommendations on how to guide patients with cancer on home parenteral nutrition (HPN) are lacking as the use of HPN in this population remains a controversial issue. Therefore, the aims of this study were to rank treatment recommendations and main outcome indicators to ensure high-quality care and to indicate differences in care concerning benign versus malignant patients. ⋯ Using a two-round Delphi approach, we developed a minimal set of 42 interventions that may be used to determine quality of care in HPN patients with malignancies. This set of interventions differs from a similar set developed for benign patients.

Identification of clinical predictive factors of oxaliplatin-induced chronic peripheral neuropathy in colorectal cancer patients treated with adjuvant Folfox IV.
Oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy is a dose-related side effect which occurs in almost 40 % of patients treated with oxaliplatin. Aim of the present study was to identify reliable clinical factors predicting its development and duration. ⋯ Age, anaemia, hypoalbuminaemia, hypomagnesaemia and alcohol consumption are reliable and easily assessable clinical factors predicting incidence and length of oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy.

The minimal clinical important difference in the World Health Organization Quality of Life instrument--100.
The aim of this study was to estimate the minimal clinical important difference (MCID) of the World Health Organization Quality of Life assessment instrument (WHOQOL-100) for women with early-stage breast cancer. If the MCID is known, then the instrument is also useful for individual patients and thus useful in clinical practice. In this study, the MCID is the smallest change in quality of life (QOL) scores considered clinically relevant for patients. ⋯ A change in score of 1 on the WHOQOL-100 is proposed as the MCID for women with early-stage breast cancer.

Romania still has to adapt and develop psychosocial assessment protocols which would allow standardized screening for the sixth vital sign in cancer patients, namely distress and quality of life. The present study screens for the psychosocial and communication needs of cancer outpatients in palliative care and in rehabilitation. These data are also compared with those obtained from a sample of cancer inpatients. ⋯ Cancer is an unmet psychosocial challenge to patients and to the specialized services, regardless of care type. The urgency of psychosocial screening in the Romanian cancer care system is revealed. Based on these findings, there is a need for psychosocial screening and related supportive care services that need to be integrated into Romania's cancer care programs. A recommendation is to pilot psychosocial and supportive care model within the four regional cancer care institutions.
