Overall it is clear that bariatric surgical intervention in appropriately selected adolescents is effective at both adequate weight loss and resolution of weight related co-morbidities in the short and medium term. Long-term results are being conducted currently to assess durability of bariatric surgical interventions. ⋯ If lifestyle modification fails, these adolescents can gain weight by overcoming the physiologic effects of the surgery as they eat high calorie foods at very frequent intervals. Finally, close postoperative follow-up is required with active management of weight loss/gain, co-morbidities, and postoperative complications should they occur.

Pelvic CT angiography in blunt trauma: imaging findings and protocol considerations. [corrected].
The evolution of multi-row detector computed tomography (MDCT) technology has resulted in evolving applications of CT angiography (CTA) in the trauma setting. In patients with significant blunt pelvic injuries, the immediate diagnosis and characterization of vascular injuries are of significant import given their morbidity and mortality in this patient population. ⋯ This review will discuss the use of pelvic CTA in blunt pelvic trauma and its utility in detecting and characterizing vascular injury, including the differentiation of arterial from venous hemorrhage. Protocol considerations in pelvic CTA using 64MDCT technology will be detailed as well as the integration of pelvic CTA into torso CT trauma protocols.

Proper interpretation of PET-CT images requires knowledge of the normal physiological distribution of the tracer, frequently encountered physiological variants, and benign pathological causes of FDG uptake that can be confused with a malignant neoplasm. In addition, not all malignant processes are associated with avid tracer uptake. A basic knowledge of the technique of image acquisition is also required to avoid pitfalls such as misregistration of anatomical and scintigraphic data. This article reviews these potential pitfalls as they apply to the abdomen and pelvis of patients with cancer.

Current evidence for the use of FDG PET/PET-CT in staging thoracic oesophageal and GOJ cancer is reviewed. ⋯ The contribution of FDG PET CT to the investigation of patients with primary thoracic oesophageal and GOJ cancer has resulted in improved staging, so providing the ability to optimise treatment.

The purpose of our report is to describe a spectrum of findings of celiac disease at MR enterography. MR enterography is a non-invasive, feasible, and reproducible imaging technique for the evaluation of small bowel. Findings on MR enterography, similar to those of conventional barium studies, may suggest a diagnosis of celiac disease.
