Review Case Reports[Listeria monocytogenes infection in pregnancy: experience of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile University Hospital].
Listeria monocytogenes is Gram-positive facultative intracellular pathogen often foodborne and found elsewhere. It is an uncommon cause of illness in the general population. However, it is an important cause of severe infection in neonates, pregnant women, elderly and immunosuppressed patients. ⋯ Listeriosis should be considered during the evaluation of febrile syndrome in pregnancy as this condition can be the only risk factor. Blood and amniotic fluid cultures are useful diagnostic tests. Perinatal complications remains high.

The species of Leuconostoc are uncommon opportunistic pathogens, which can be isolated in critically ill patients, immunocompromised hosts and in nosocomial infections. They are mostly isolated in bacteremia associated to intravascular devices and to the use of total parenteral nutrition. Nevertheless, other infections due to Leuconostoc sp have been described among which, meningitis, bloodstream infections, urinary tract infections and peritonitis have been reported. In this article we describe a series of cancer patients with Leuconostoc sp infections and their associated clinical conditions, and a literature review is presented.

Review Case Reports[Hansen's disease: case report and review of literature].
Leprosy is a granulomatous disease affecting the skin and peripheral nerves caused by Mycobacterium leprae. The range of clinical forms varying from tuberculoid to lepromatous leprosy results from variations in the cellular immune response to the mycobacterium. ⋯ We present a 56-year-old man who had lived in Paraguay for 8 years, and presented with leprosy 6 years after returning to Chile. The biology of leprosy, clinical features of the disease, current diagnostic criteria and approaches to treatment are discussed.

Review Case Reports[Cryptococcus neoformans arthritis in elderly adult: case report and review].
Cryptococcal infection is not frequent in immunocompetent patients. The most commonly involved sites are the lungs and the central nervous system. Cryptococcal osteomyelitis occurs in 5-10% of patients with disseminated cryptococcosis with few reports of cryptococcal arthritis in elderly adults. We describe the case of a 92-year-old woman with a Cryptococcus neoformans knee joint infection associated to osteomyelitis.
