The purpose of this review of the literature is to identify a comprehensive list of the barriers that impact the effective implementation and sustainment of hourly rounding on the adult inpatient medical or surgical unit. ⋯ Leaders can utilise this information to analyse and create successful options to overcome these barriers before, during and after the implementation process. Further studies are needed to identify targeted strategies to alleviate these barriers.

To examine the conflict management style that emergency department (ED) nurses use to resolve conflict and to determine whether their style of managing conflict and a supportive work environment affects their experience of work stress. ⋯ Providing opportunities for ED nurses in skills training in constructive conflict resolution may help to reduce work stress and to improve the quality of patient care.

The impact of servant leadership dimensions on leader-member exchange among health care professionals.
The aim of the current study was to investigate the impact of servant leadership dimensions on leader-member exchange (LMX) among health-care professionals. ⋯ The results identify specific servant leadership dimensions that are likely to be useful for developing a stronger exchange relationship between the leader (e.g. nursing manager) and individual subordinates in health care.

To critically review empirical research about work engagement in nursing and to synthesise the findings to better understand this construct. ⋯ Nursing managers and leaders may promote improvements in leadership behaviours and a context of optimism and self-efficacy as a way of increasing work engagement.

To examine the predictors of nurses' intention to leave the organisation and intention to leave the profession in Turkey. ⋯ Managers should focus on approaches that will increase satisfaction and prevent burnout in nurses. Nurse managers should consider nurses' suggestions when developing plans related to staffing and resources and should encourage interdisciplinary cooperation.
