The feasibility and potential of using drones for providing flotation devices in cases of drowning have not yet been assessed. We hypothesize that a drone carrying an inflatable life buoy is a faster way to provide flotation compared with traditional methods. The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility and efficiency of using a drone for delivering and providing flotation support to conscious simulated drowning victims. ⋯ Using drones to deliver inflatable life buoys is safe and may be a faster method to provide early flotation devices to conscious drowning victims compared with rescue swimming.

Development and Testing of a Neonatal Intubation Checklist for an Air Medical Transport Team.
We developed a Neonatal Intubation Checklist for Airlift Northwest. Our goal was to improve the preparation, technical proficiency, and safety of neonatal intubation without increasing the time required to perform the procedure. ⋯ The use of the Neonatal Intubation Checklist improved transport team performance during simulated neonatal intubations and decreased the time required to successfully perform the procedure.

Case ReportsPediatric Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Patient With Traumatic Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Takotsubo Syndrome.
Takotsubo syndrome is rare in pediatric patients but must be considered in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage with pulmonary edema and cardiomyopathy. A systematic, collaborative approach is needed to facilitate emergent transfer of patients where extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (e-CPR) is used as a lifesaving measure. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) use in transport requires preplanning, role delineation, resources, and research efforts to be successful. We present an unusual transport case of successful e-CPR/ECMO treatment of Takotsubo syndrome in a 12-year-old boy with an isolated traumatic intracranial injury, cardiomyopathy with pulmonary edema, and multiple cardiac arrests.

Retrospective Review of Pediatric Transport: Where Do Our Patients Go After Transport?
This review describes disposition of transported children and identifies contributing factors affecting optimal patient placement. The study describes timing and patient placement indicators in transport patients to identify areas of improvement, re-education, and training. ⋯ Our study validates the efficient use of pediatric specialty transport team resources. Many transported patients are critically ill, require specialized pediatric services, or require definitive pediatric emergency department care.

Observational StudyKetamine Sedation for Patients With Acute Behavioral Disturbance During Aeromedical Retrieval: A Retrospective Chart Review.
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence, safety (as measured by the incidence of adverse events), and effectiveness (as measured by the incidence of intubations) of ketamine sedation in patients with acute behavioral disturbance (ABD) during air medical retrieval. ⋯ Our study suggests that ketamine is a safe and effective agent for sedating patients with ABD during air medical retrieval.
