Comparison of the ability of two continuous cardiac output monitors to detect stroke volume index: Estimated continuous cardiac output estimated by modified pulse wave transit time and measured by an arterial pulse contour-based cardiac output device.
Estimated continuous cardiac output (esCCO), a non-invasive technique for continuously measuring cardiac output (CO), is based on modified pulse wave transit time, which is determined by pulse oximetry and electrocardiography. ⋯ This study demonstrated that the accuracy, precision, and dynamic trend of esCCO are better than those of APCO.

Randomized Controlled TrialSmartphone-based visual feedback trunk control training for gait ability in stroke patients: A single-blind randomized controlled trial.
The gait ability of stroke patients is highly related with trunk control. Studies that addressed the effects of trunk control training using visual feedback on gait parameters of stroke patients are lacking. ⋯ Additional smartphone-based visual feedback trunk control training may improve trunk control and spatio-temporal gait parameter in chronic stroke patients.

Using a filming protocol to improve video-instructed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Video communications during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can improve the quality of information exchange between a bystander performing CPR and an emergency medical dispatcher (EMD). ⋯ Video-instructed CPR with the filming protocol improves CPR effectiveness compared to telephone- and video-instructed CPR. Detailed implementation can improve new technology introduction.

Anatomically shaped locking plates for radial head and olecranon fracture fixation in Monteggia-like lesions.
Monteggia-like lesions are rare injuries. We retrospectively reviewed 40 consecutive patients with Monteggia-like lesions treated at a level I trauma center from 2009 to 2016. Clinical results were evaluated with a focus on the use of modern locking plates. ⋯ This fracture repair technique can safely achieve good and excellent outcomes in most cases and is partly superior to previously published techniques. However, Bado type II fractures still have a risk of poor results.

A clinical study on mechanical ventilation PEEP setting for traumatic ARDS patients guided by esophageal pressure.
This study aims to explore whether positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) guided by esophageal pressure is better than the acute respiratory distress syndrome network (ARDSNet) during the treatment of traumatic acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients. ⋯ The PEEP selection of mechanical ventilation of patients with traumatic ARDS guided by transpulmonary pressure and calculated by measuring intrapleural pressure can realize the individual adjustment of PEEP, identify ARDS patients benefiting from high PEEP, and provide a PEEP setting that can better meet the needs of traumatic patients.
