Randomized Controlled TrialDecreased flexion contracture after total knee arthroplasty using Botulinum toxin A: a randomized controlled trial.
Flexion contracture after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) can cause significant dissatisfaction. Botulinum toxin A has shown improved extension in patients with spastic flexion contractures after TKA. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether Botulinum toxin A improves knee extension for any patient with flexion contractures following TKA. ⋯ I.

Joint awareness in osteoarthritis of the hip and knee evaluated with the 'Forgotten Joint' Score before and after joint replacement.
To utilize the 'Forgotten Joint' Score (FJS), a 12-item questionnaire analysing the ability to forget the joint, for comparing preoperative status in osteoarthritic patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Higher scores represent a better result with a maximum of 100. The hypothesis of this study was that a preoperative difference in favour of hip arthritis could eventually explain why THA is cited more often as a forgotten joint than TKA. ⋯ II.

Surgical repair of chronic patellar tendon rupture in total knee replacement with ipsilateral hamstring tendons.
Patellar tendon rupture is a serious complication of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Its reconstruction in patients with chronic ruptures is technically demanding. This article reports the results of surgical reconstruction of neglected patellar tendon rupture in TKA using autologous hamstring tendons. ⋯ Case series, Level IV.

High correlation of the Oxford Knee Score with postoperative pain, but not with performance-based functioning.
The Oxford Knee Score (OKS) is a widely known patient-related outcome measure (PROM) to determine pain and knee functioning before and after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Self-reported function is mainly influenced by change in pain; therefore, it was hypothesized that the OKS correlates more with pain than with performance-based functioning. ⋯ III.
