Evaluation of sterilization methods following contamination of hamstring autograft during anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
Inadvertent contamination of the hamstring autograft during ACL reconstruction is infrequent, but can result in significant complications. The purpose of this study is to evaluate bacterial contamination of hamstring autografts dropped onto the operating room floor and methods of graft decontamination. ⋯ II.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyLong-term follow-up of patellar tendon grafts or hamstring tendon grafts in endoscopic ACL reconstructions.
Several studies compare the short- and long-term results of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) graft or double-looped semitendinosus and gracilis (DLSG) graft. However, no studies evaluate the long-term results of BPTB grafts fixed with metal interference screws and DLSG grafts fixed with the Bone Mulch Screw and the Washer Loc. This prospective randomized multicentre study has the null hypothesis that there is no difference in long-term outcome between the two procedures. ⋯ II.

Multicenter StudyInfluence of rupture patterns of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) on the outcome after operative treatment of traumatic patellar dislocation.
Patellar dislocation usually occurs to the lateral side, leading to ruptures of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) in about 90 % of all cases. Reliable prognostic factors for the stability of the patellofemoral joint after MPFL surgery and satisfaction of the patient have not been established as yet. ⋯ Prognostic study, Level IV.

ReviewThe effect of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on tissue healing.
Non-selective (NSAIDs) and selective (COX-2) nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are commonly used for their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Their role after orthopaedic surgery has been infrequently described and remains controversial because of unclear effects on soft tissue and bone healing. This study critically reviews the available literature to describe the effects of NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors on soft tissue and bone healing. ⋯ III.
