Validity and reliability of the Norwegian translation of the Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score.
Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) are increasingly being used in clinical research. The Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS) is a PROM designed to assess outcomes in patients with ruptures of the Achilles tendon. The aim of this study was to develop a Norwegian adaption of the ATRS and evaluate its validity and reliability. ⋯ The Norwegian adaption of the ATRS demonstrates acceptable validity and reliability for use in the Norwegian population to assess clinical outcomes in patients with Achilles tendon ruptures.

Increased injury rates after the restructure of Germany's national second league of team handball.
Scientific injury data in men's professional team handball injuries are rare and even less scientific information exists on injury prevention. In 2011, Germany's national second team handball league was restructured by merging the existing two regional leagues into one league. This study evaluates the injury patterns in professional team handball and compares the injury rates between the first and second league before and after the restructure. ⋯ III.

Body mass index changes after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty do not adversely influence patient outcomes.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of patients who lost or gained weight following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA), the effect of post-operative body mass index (BMI) changes on functional outcomes and quality of life (QoL), and predictive factors associated with BMI changes. ⋯ Level III.

Neutral alignment leads to higher knee society scores after total knee arthroplasty in preoperatively non-varus patients: a prospective clinical study using 3D-CT.
The optimal coronal alignment is still under debate. However, in most of the studies, alignment was only assessed using radiographs, which are not accurate enough for assessment of tibial and femoral TKA position. The primary purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between coronal TKA alignment using 3D-reconstructed CTs and clinical outcome in patients with preoperative varus in comparison with patients with natural or valgus deformity. It was the hypothesis that neutral limb alignment shows a better outcome after TKA. ⋯ Diagnostic study, Level II.
