Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of an intravenous lidocaine bolus before tracheal extubation on recovery after breast surgery - Lidocaine at the End (LATE) study: a randomized controlled clinical trial.
To investigate whether IV lidocaine improves emergence, early recovery, and late recovery after general anesthesia in women who undergo breast surgery. ⋯ In women who underwent breast surgery, IV lidocaine bolus administered just before extubation attenuated bucking, cough and sore throat, and PONV for 24 hours after general anesthesia, without prolonging the emergence.

Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Lebanese university students related to sexually transmitted diseases: a cross-sectional study.
To appraise Lebanese university students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). ⋯ Attitude did not significantly mediate the association between knowledge and practice. Therefore, educational programs and awareness campaigns should be implemented in secondary schools and among vulnerable non-medical students. Such efforts can help students identify the symptoms of STDs, seek medical attention, and make informed decisions to protect themselves.

A pattern of antibiotic drug resistance of Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi among children with enteric fever in a tertiary care hospital in Lahore, Pakistan.
To establish the pattern of antibiotic resistance and assess the frequency of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) strains of Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi among children with enteric fever. ⋯ An alarming antibiotic drug resistance pattern was observed among children with enteric fever in Lahore. The lowest resistance was noted for azithromycin, meropenem, and imipenem. Our findings warrant the immediate implementation of tailored antibiotic stewardship and infection control strategies.

Analysis of health care professionals' incident reports on medical devices in Croatia.
To assess the quantity and quality of incident reports on medical devices by health care professionals from 2012 to 2021 and evaluate the effect of reporting on manufacturers' post-market surveillance. ⋯ The number of total reports and reports per year shows extensive underreporting in Croatia, and the quality of the provided reports is insufficient.

The burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance in Croatia in 2019: a country-level systematic analysis.
To deliver the most wide-ranging set of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) burden estimates for Croatia to date. ⋯ We showed that AMR represented a substantial public health concern in Croatia, which reflects global trends; hence, our detailed country-level findings may fast-track the implementation of multipronged strategies tailored in accordance with leading pathogens and pathogen-drug combinations.
