Changes in sexually transmitted infections-related sexual risk-taking among young Croatian adults: a 2005-2021 three-wave population-based study.
To assess the prevalence and dynamics of risky sexual behaviors among Croatian emerging adults in the 2005-2021 period. ⋯ Risky sexual behaviors decreased in the 2021 survey compared with the previous two waves, in both genders. Nonetheless, sexual risk-taking is still frequent among young Croatian adults. The introduction of sexuality education and other national-level public health interventions to reduce sexual risk-taking thus remains a public health imperative.

Case ReportsIntravenous infusion of angiotensin II for treatment of cardiopulmonary bypass-induced vasoplegic shock after implantation of left ventricular assist device: a case report.
We report on the first successful treatment of severe pharmacoresistant vasoplegic syndrome with angiotensin II acetate (ATII) in Croatia. ATII is a novel drug used to treat severe vasoplegic shock resistant to the administration of catecholamines or alternative vasopressors such as vasopressin or methylene blue. A 44-year-old patient with secondary toxic cardiomyopathy developed severe cardiopulmonary bypass-induced vasoplegic shock after scheduled implantation of a left-ventricular assist device. ⋯ On postoperative day 3, the norepinephrine infusion was stopped. On day 6, renin further dropped to 136 ng/L, and the patient was hemodynamically stable and discharged from the ICU. In conclusion, ATII favorably affected the patient’s vascular tone, enabling rapid hemodynamic stabilization and shortening the ICU and hospital stay.

The effect of high standard uptake value in lung cancer metastatic lesions on survival.
To assess how metastatic lesions with a higher maximum standard uptake value than the primary tumor affect survival in patients with lung cancer. ⋯ The maximum standard uptake value could be a potential new prognostic factor for survival in lung cancer.

The impact of earthquakes on the frequency and prognosis of the most common emergency cardiac conditions.
To assess whether the number of patients with a cardiac chief complaint and their characteristics differed between before and after two major earthquakes that struck Croatia in 2020. ⋯ After two moderately strong earthquakes, hospitals within 20 km from the epicenter saw a significant increase in acute cardiac conditions such as elevated blood pressure, AMI, and cardioverted arrhythmias. Eventually, these earthquakes had no impact on the outcomes of the studied population.
