Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 activity and long-term outcome in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention: a prospective cohort study.
To determine the relationship between plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) activity rise during the first 24 hours of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treatment and death after 5 years. ⋯ PAI-1 activity rise higher than 3.7 U/mL is associated with higher 5-year death rate in STEMI patients treated with primary PCI.

Multicenter StudyActivity of fosfomycin against nosocomial multiresistant bacterial pathogens from Croatia: a multicentric study.
To determine in vitro susceptibility of multiresistant bacterial isolates to fosfomycin. ⋯ With the best in vitro activity among the tested antibiotics, fosfomycin could be an effective treatment option for infections caused by multiresistant Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial strains in the hospital setting.

Case ReportsPotential hot spot for de novo mutations in PTCH1 gene in Gorlin syndrome patients: a case report of twins from Croatia.
We describe a case of twins with sporadic Gorlin syndrome. Both twins had common Gorlin syndrome features including calcification of the falx cerebri, multiple jaw keratocysts, and multiple basal cell carcinomas, but with different expressivity. One brother also had benign testicular mesothelioma. ⋯ Met1122ValfsX22). This is, to our knowledge, the first Gorlin syndrome-causing mutation that has been reported four independent times in distant geographical locations. Therefore, we propose the location of the described mutation as a potential hot spot for mutations in PTCH1.
