Cannabis products have been used for centuries by humans for recreational and medical purposes. Resent research, proposed the promising therapeutic potential of cannabis and related cannabinoids for a wide range of medical conditions, including psychiatric and neurological diseases. This Special Issue presents the latest updates on medicinal cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids pharmacology, toxicology and new analytical methods to identify and quantify these compounds in conventional and non-conventional biological matrices. Moreover, it provides current data regarding their adverse effects, safety, application for medical purposes and their harmful effects.

A Phylogenetic and Ontogenetic Perspective of the Unique Accumulation of Arterial Variations in One Human Anatomic Specimen.
Background and objectives: Anatomical dissection is an indispensable means of acquiring knowledge about the variability of the human body. We detected the co-existence of several arterial variations within one female anatomic specimen during routine anatomical dissection. The aim of this study was to evaluate if this status is a regular pattern in any of other vertebrates. ⋯ Conclusion: Apparently, arterial variations are frequently a result of random development. Medical professionals must always be aware of anatomical variations; the absence of such awareness would create major difficulties during surgery. The present case confirms the relevance of anatomical dissection, particularly for medical students.

Background and objective: To date, there have only been a few studies on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of people with Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and oral conditions. The aim of this study was, therefore, to analyze the OHRQoL of people with EDS from their own point of view as well as obtain information about their age at the time of the diagnosis, the period of time until diagnosis, and the presence of oral conditions (if any) and their association with oral health quality. Methods: The study was designed as an anonymous questionnaire-based cross-sectional study. ⋯ OHIP-14 scores for dysgnathia, periodontitis, TMD (Temporomandibular dysfunction), a high-arched palate, malocclusion, and the anomaly of tooth formation were statistical notably different between the participants with and the participants without oral conditions. Conclusions: Long diagnostic pathways seem to be a typical problem in patients with EDS. Oral conditions associated with the underlying disease occurred regularly and showed a negative correlation with OHRQoL.

Background and Objective. 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) inhibits proinflammatory cytokines in microglial cells and monocytes. However, it is unclear whether 1,25(OH)2D3 inhibits proinflammatory cytokines in muscle cells. This study was conducted to investigate whether 1,25(OH)2D3 inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines, resulting in inhibition of the protein expression of E3 ubiquitin ligases and muscle protein loss. ⋯ The findings suggest that 1,25(OH)2D3 can prevent or improve sarcopenia, which is associated with IL-6. The TNFα protein content could not be measured, and MHC was not decreased despite LPS stimulation of C2C12 myotubes. Further studies are needed to examine the effects of higher doses of LPS stimulation on muscle cells and use more sensitive methods for measuring TNFα protein to investigate the preventive effects of 1,25(OH)2D3 on increased TNFα and muscle proteolysis.

Review Meta Analysis
Long-Term Prognosis of Endodontic Microsurgery-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Background and objectives: The long-term outcome of endodontic microsurgery (EMS) performed on root-filled teeth affected by post-treatment apical periodontitis (AP) has been a matter of debate, re-launched by the introduction of novel root-end filling materials which have been proven to improve the short-term outcome of EMS. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the clinical and radiographic long-term outcome of endodontic microsurgery in teeth diagnosed with secondary AP through radiographic evaluation. Materials and Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. ⋯ Survival rate outcomes varied from 79 to 100% for the same follow-up period. Five prognostic factors with influence on the outcome were disclosed: smoking habits, tooth location and type, absence/presence of dentinal defects, interproximal bone level, and root-end filling material. Conclusions: High success rates and predictable results can be expected when EMS is performed by trained endodontists, allowing good prognosis and preservation of teeth affected by secondary AP.
