Observational Study
The Influence of Antiarrhythmic Device Intervention on Biopsychosocial Functioning and Anxiety in Patients with an Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator.
Background and objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the impact of cardioverter-defibrillator interventions on the psychosocial functioning of a patient and the occurrence of concerns related to ICD. Materials and Methods: The conducted study was a prospective and observational study that included 158 patients. The study was conducted in two stages: I before ICD implantation and II a follow-up visit six months after the ICD implantation. ⋯ There was also a negative correlation between the number of discharges and the degree of disease acceptance and in the quality of life domains: somatic, mental, social and environmental. The more discharges, the worse the disease acceptance and assessment of the quality of life. Conclusions: Individuals who experienced discharges assessed their quality of life as worse in all aspects (perception of the quality of life, own health, physical, mental, social and environmental domains), experienced anxiety and depressive disorders more often, were characterized by a worse functioning in a chronic disease, experienced insomnia more often and reported more concerns related to ICD implantation.

Background and Objectives: The relationship between depression in tinnitus patients without hearing loss remains elusive. This study aimed to investigate the association between tinnitus and normal hearing and depression. Materials and Methods: Participants aged ≥12 years with normal hearing levels were recruited from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), 2009-2012. ⋯ The odds ratio of depression for tinnitus with normal hearing were 1.89 (95% CI 1.37-2.60, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Tinnitus with normal hearing was related to the female sex, ischemic heart disease, dyslipidemia, noise exposure, and depression. Depression had the highest odds of tinnitus with normal hearing.

Background and objectives: Suicide in adolescents represents a major public health concern. To date, a growing number of suicide preventive strategies based on the use of new technologies are emerging. We aimed to provide an overview of the present literature on the use of new technologies in adolescent suicide prevention. ⋯ Conclusions: New technologies were found to be well accepted and tolerated supports for suicide prevention in adolescents. However, to date, few data support the use of such interventions in clinical practice and preventive strategies. Further studies are needed to test their efficacy in suicide prevention among adolescents and young adults.

Review Case Reports
Efficacy of Lesion Specific Portals in Endoscopic Treatment of Calcaneal Bone Cyst: A Case Report and Literature Review.
Background: Calcaneal bone cysts rarely occur and most of them are known to be benign. Among them, simple bone cysts (SBCs) third most commonly occur in the calcaneus and of the many surgical treatment options, endoscopic curettage is recently gaining popularity among surgeons due to its advantages of minimal invasiveness and optimal visualization. As for portal placement for endoscopy, two lateral portals are considered a standard technique, but no rationale has been established for SBCs with abnormal geometry. ⋯ At a one-year follow-up, the patient was painless and had returned to his regular activities. Physical and radiographic examinations revealed that the lesion was completely healed without any evidence of recurrence. Conclusion: For calcaneal bone cysts located at the posterior aspect of the calcaneus, eccentrically medial and abnormally long anterior-posteriorly, we suggest an endoscopic procedure using lesion specific portals such as two posterior portals.

Traditionally, the management of patients with pulmonary embolism has been accomplished with anticoagulant treatment with parenteral heparins and oral vitamin K antagonists. Although the administration of heparins and oral vitamin K antagonists still plays a role in pulmonary embolism management, the use of these therapies are limited due to other options now available. This is due to their toxicity profile, clearance limitations, and many interactions with other medications and nutrients. ⋯ These oral therapeutic options have opened up opportunities for safe and effective pulmonary embolism management, as more evidence and research is now available about reversal agents and monitoring parameters. The evolution of the pharmacological management of pulmonary embolism has provided us with better understanding regarding the selection of anticoagulants. There is also a better understanding and employment of anticoagulants in pulmonary embolism in special populations, such as patients with liver failure, renal failure, malignancy, and COVID-19.
