Background and Objectives: Emotional dysregulation is central to the problem of the overlap between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and cyclothymia. The aim of the study was to evaluate comorbidity rates between ADHD and cyclothymic disorder and to explore demographic and clinical differences among the groups, focusing on affective temperament and emotional dysregulation. Materials and Methods: One hundred sixty-five outpatients attending the Second Psychiatry Unit at the Santa Chiara University Hospital (Pisa) were consecutively recruited: 80 were diagnosed with ADHD, 60 with cyclothymic disorder, and 25 with both conditions. ⋯ Conclusions: ADHD and cyclothymia often co-occur and show similar levels of emotional dysregulation. However, cyclothymic patients may be more prone to negative emotionality in clinical settings. Subjects with "sunny" cyclothymic features might escape the attention of clinicians unless ADHD is present.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the T-14 outcomes of the BizactTM device for tonsillectomy in a pediatric population. Methods: A case series chart review was undertaken at a public tertiary teaching hospital and private otolaryngology practice, with data collected from pediatric patients who underwent a BizactTM tonsillectomy between July 2016 and October 2019 for any indication, whose parents consented to completing the T-14 questionnaire providing a parental perspective of the child's quality of life. Primary outcomes were T-14 scores recorded preoperatively and 6 weeks post-operatively. ⋯ There was a significant improvement in T-14 scores from a median of 24 (Interquartile range (IQR) 18-33) prior to surgery to 2 (IQR 0-4) at 6 weeks postoperatively (p < 0.001). The post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage rate was 6.1% (9/146 participants). Conclusions: Pediatric BizactTM tonsillectomy is effective in treating common indications for pediatric tonsillectomy, reflected by improved parent-reported health-related quality of life T-14 scores postoperatively.

The PROPESS, a controlled-release dinoprostone vaginal delivery system, is a pharmacological cervical ripening intervention and promotes cervical change causing uterine contraction. During insertion of the PROPESS, uterine hyperstimulation could occur and result in fetal heart rate (FHR) abnormality. ⋯ The nitroglycerin resulted in uterine relaxation, and the FHR abnormality was resolved immediately, thereby preventing an emergency cesarean section. Therefore, nitroglycerin could be considered an effective option for uterine hyperstimulation accompanied with FHR abnormality caused by the PROPESS.

Background and Objectives: The first clusters of SARS-CoV-2 infection were identified in an occupational setting, and to date, a significant portion of the cases may result from occupational exposure; thus, COVID-19 should also be considered a new occupational risk that both directly and indirectly impacts the health of workers. Given the significance of occupational-exposure-related infections and deaths, this study aims to assess the roles and tasks of occupational physicians (OPs) in countering the spread of the infection. Indeed, despite the OP's centrality in risk management in the workplace, its activity in the current epidemic context has rarely been mentioned. ⋯ Results: Fundamental tasks and duties of OPs in the current COVID-19 outbreak are highlighted by examining their clinical activity and technical action. A risk assessment and management workflow is proposed, and medico-legal implications in case of infection at work are also discussed in the light of recent regulatory changes that clearly attribute to OPs an important role in safeguarding public health. Conclusion: The proposed approach can provide new instruments to contrast the spread of the infection as part of a comprehensive system response to the current pandemic, for which OPs are called to assume full responsibility.

Background and Objectives: Sarcopenia is a recognized prognostic factor for both complications and survival in cancer patients. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sarcopenia measured by psoas muscle index on computer tomography scans and the presence of postoperative complications in colorectal cancer surgery. Materials and Methods: In a prospective study we recorded data from 51 patients who underwent colorectal cancer surgery in the Mures County Clinical Hospital, Romania. ⋯ Conclusions: The psoas muscle index (PMI) influence on the postoperative outcome is an important factor in our single center prospective study and it appears to be a good overall predictor in colorectal surgery. A lower PMI is directly associated with a low or high grade complication by Clavien-Dindo classification. Perioperative inflammatory and nutritional status evidenced by serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and albumin level influences the presence of postoperative complications.
