Background and Objectives: Overactive bladder (OAB) is a serious urination-related symptom of unknown pathogenesis that affects one's everyday activities. The objective of this study was to examine how OAB prevalence, symptom severity, and degree of distress caused by OAB symptoms evolved throughout the course of pregnancy. Materials and Methods: A total of 659 pregnant women were recruited from 2015 to 2020, and were evaluated through the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Overactive Bladder (ICIQ-OAB) on OAB symptoms, administered in the early, middle, and late stages of pregnancy. ⋯ The prevalence of OAB, OAB-dry, and OAB-wet was significantly higher in early pregnancy than pre-pregnancy. Conclusions: The prevalence of OAB and OAB-wet increased over the course of pregnancy, but the prevalence of OAB-dry decreased. Furthermore, symptom severity and degree of distress increased over time.

Background and Objectives: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative condition responsible for progressive motor and non-motor symptoms. Currently, no prophylactic or disease-modifying interventions are available. Uric acid (UA) is a potent endogenous antioxidant, resulting from purine metabolism. ⋯ Lower UA levels were significantly associated with the severity of parkinsonism according to the Hoehn and Yahr stage (rs = 0.488, p = 0.002), with the motor complications of long-term dopaminergic treatment (r = 0.333, p = 0.027), and with the presence of neurocognitive impairment (r = 0.346, p = 0.021). Conclusions: Oxidative stress is considered a key player in the etiopathogenesis of PD, therefore the involvement of lower UA levels in the development and progression of PD is plausible. Data on the potential therapeutic roles of elevating serum UA (e.g., by precursor administration or diet manipulation) are scarce, but considering the accumulating epidemiological evidence, the topic warrants further research.

Backgroundand Objectives: Delay of reperfusion therapy is related to high mortality in cases of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Guidelines emphasize that the first-medical-contact-to-balloon (FMCTB) time should be within 90 min. A mobile cloud-based 12-lead electrocardiogram (MC-ECG) transmission system might be useful in such cases, especially in rural areas. ⋯ The length of hospital stay in the MC-ECG group was significantly shorter than that in the Conventional group (12.0 (10.0-15.0) days vs. 16.0 (12.0-19.0) days, p = 0.039). The logistic regression model showed that patients' non-use of MC-ECG was associated with a risk of more than 15-day length of hospital stay with an adjusted odd ratio of 0.08 (95% CI: 0.013-0.55, p = 0.0098). Conclusions: Using the MC-ECG, the length of hospital stay in patients with STEMI was significantly reduced.

The number of spine surgeries using instrumentation has been increasing with recent advances in surgical techniques and spinal implants. Navigation systems have been attracting attention since the 1990s in order to perform spine surgeries safely and effectively, and they enable us to perform complex spine surgeries that have been difficult to perform in the past. ⋯ Since 2006, an intraoperative CT-based navigation system has been introduced as a solution to these problems, and it is now becoming the mainstay of navigated spine surgery. Here, we highlighted the use of intraoperative CT-based navigation systems in current spine surgery, as well as future issues and prospects.

We report our experience in treating a ruptured dissecting posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysm. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of overlapping stenting without coils for a ruptured dissecting aneurysm of the proximal PICA. A 66-year-old male patient presented with sudden altered mental state and a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). ⋯ The patient's postoperative course was uneventful. In follow-up cerebral angiography, dissecting aneurysm achieved complete remodeling. The decision that led to the choice of treatment is discussed.
