Background and Objectives: We investigated whether nutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphoycte ratio (PLR), and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) are associated with the presence of osteoporosis (OP) and vertebral fractures in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Materials and Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 413 postmenopausal patients with RA and 200 healthy controls who underwent dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) between January 2005 and December 2017. DEXA examination data were defined as the index date, and all laboratory values were measured within one month from the index date. ⋯ During the follow-up period, 53 (12.8%) patients with RA developed vertebral fractures incidentally. In multivariable Cox regression models, a high baseline NLR (HR = 4.72, p < 0.001), PLR (HR = 1.96, p = 0.024), and MLR (HR = 2.64, p = 0.002) were independently associated with a higher risk of incidental vertebral fractures. Conclusions: Our data suggest that NLR, PLR, and MLR can be used as potential markers of systemic bone loss among individuals with RA.

Background and Objectives: Differentiating between hypovolemic (HH) and euvolemic hyponatremia (EH) is crucial for correct diagnosis and therapy, but can be a challenge. We aim to ascertain whether changes in serum creatinine (SC) can be helpful in distinguishing HH from EH. Materials and Methods: Retrospective analysis of patients followed in a monographic hyponatremia outpatient clinic of a tertiary hospital during 1 January 2014−30 November 2019. ⋯ A ∆SC% ≥ 10% had an OR of 29.0 (95%CI: 10.3 to 81.7, p < 0.001) for HH. A ∆SC% ≤ 3% had an OR of 68.3 (95%CI: 13.0 to 262.2, p < 0.001) for EH. Conclusions: The assessment of SC changes from eunatremia to hyponatremia can be useful in distinguishing between HH and EH.

Background and objectives. There is a bidirectional relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection and diabetes mellitus (DM), as people with DM are more vulnerable, and SARS-CoV-2 infections worsen the prognosis in these patients. The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the application validity of the ISARIC-4C score in patients confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection. ⋯ The Cox regression model showed that the length of hospitalization (LH) was significantly influenced by body mass index, lung impairment, and aspartate aminotransferase, increasing the hazards, while lower HbA1c and lower SatO2 significantly decreased the hazards. Conclusions. ISARIC-4C score estimates the likelihood of clinical deterioration and the mortality risk in patients hospitalized with type 2 DM and positive for SARS-CoV-2, being useful in assessing the prognosis from the onset, as well as in developing therapeutic strategies.

Background and Objectives: The gold standard for a successful prosthetic approach is the osseointegration of an implant. However, this integration can be a problem in cases where the implant needs to be removed. Removing the implant with minimal damage to the surrounding tissues is important. ⋯ Tissue damage was detected in all test groups at −80 °C. Conclusions: The method of removing implants with cryotherapy was found to be successful in −40 °C freeze−thaw cycles applied three times for 1 min. To prove implant removal with cryotherapy, more implant trials should be conducted.

Review Case Reports
Diagnostic Pitfall in Atypical Febrile Presentation in a Patient with a Pregnancy-Specific Dermatosis-Case Report and Literature Review.
Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) usually occurs in the third trimester of pregnancy in primiparous women. It is a self-limiting inflammatory disorder with a still unknown pathogenic mechanism. The abdominal wall overdistension, with a subsequent inflammatory response due to damage to the connective tissue, represents a pathogenesis explanation. ⋯ The patient gave birth by cesarean section to a healthy newborn without dermatological lesions or other conditions. Adding more PUPPP cases to the literature portfolio will bring more awareness to this under-recognized and under-reported skin disorder. We trust this case will encourage other physicians to publish more cases of pregnancy-specific dermatoses.
