Background and Objectives: Patients with recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (rHNC) face an aggressive disease. Surgical resection is the gold standard treatment. Immediate adjuvant post-operative stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (PO-SABR) for rHNC is debatable. ⋯ On univariate analysis, predictive factors related to worse OS were: interval between previous radiotherapy and PO-SABR ≤ 24 months (p = 0.033) and location of the salvage target in the oral cavity (p = 0.013). The total dose of PO-SABR given in more than three fractions was marginally statistically significant, favoring the OS (p = 0.051). Conclusions: Our results encourage the use of a more aggressive approach in selected patients with rHNC by combining salvage surgery with immediate PO-SABRT, but this association needs to be further explored.

Background and objectives: Alignment of the lower extremity is important when treating congenital deformities, fractures, and joint replacement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AO North America offered an online course on deformity measurement and planning. The Bonesetter app is a deformity planning tool that is freely available online. ⋯ Conclusions: The online course successfully instructed a group of orthopedic surgeons to measure alignment and malalignment of lower limb axial deformities. The Bonesetter app helped participants to learn this skill and identify errors in measurement. The inability to differentiate between anteversion and retroversion of the femur is a common source of error when it occurs and should be a focus of instruction.

Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to examine strength asymmetries in elite athletes of different sports and (2) to examine the magnitude of asymmetries between elite and u18 athletes. Materials and Methods: A total of 254 athletes participated in this study. For the first purpose of the study, the group consisted of adult professional male basketball players (n = 30), elite male (n = 30) and female soccer players (n = 20), male futsal players (n = 30), elite male goalkeepers (n = 22), and professional female volleyball players (n = 20). ⋯ Conclusions: Special consideration should be given to female soccer players and volleyball players, as soccer and volleyball practice and competition at the professional level may induce greater lower -limb asymmetries. The isokinetic parameters can be useful for planning strength and conditioning interventions in order to reduce or prevent those imbalances. Additional unilateral and bilateral jumping testing is encouraged for the verification of imbalances.

Background and Objectives: Intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is one of the most frequent neuromuscular complications in critically ill patients. We conducted a global survey to evaluate the current practices of diagnostics, treatment and prevention in patients with ICU-AW. Materials and Methods: A pre-survey was created with international experts. ⋯ The necessity to develop guidelines for the screening, diagnosing, treatment and prevention of ICU-AW was recognized by 95% (127/133) of participants. Conclusions: A great heterogeneity regarding diagnostics, treatment and prevention of ICU-AW was reported internationally. Comprehensive guidelines with evidence-based recommendations for ICU-AW management are needed.

Background and Objectives: Advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has led to a high number of mortalities. Immunotherapy, as a first-line treatment in advanced NSCLC, currently has no clarity regarding its prognostic markers to assess the treatment outcome. This systematic review aimed to evaluate neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) as prognostic markers in advanced NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy. ⋯ Higher NLR and PLR levels are associated with poor prognostic. Conclusions: There is considerable evidence regarding both markers as prognostic markers in NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy. However, further studies with more homogeneous baseline characteristics are required to confirm these findings.
