Background and Objectives: Cardiovascular health status (CVHS) is an important determinant of health, while it is theorized that health literacy (HL) and physical literacy (PL) could be directly related to CVHS. The aim of this study was to evaluate gender-specific associations between PL and HL and indices of CVHS in adolescence. Materials and Methods: The participants were 247 adolescents (177 females) from Split-Dalmatia county in Croatia who were tested on HL, PL, and CVHS (physical activity level (PAL) and lipid profile). ⋯ We have found no evidence that HL is associated with PAL, while PL was not associated with the lipid profile. Conclusions: HL was specifically associated with direct indicators of health status (lipid profile) in girls, while PL was associated with PAL as a particular behavioral health indicator in both genders. The study highlights the necessity of including education of HL and PL in schools.

Background and Objectives: The aim was to compare the Misfit of 3D-Printed, Selective laser melting (SLM), milled (Computer aided design-Computer aided manufacture CAD-CAM) and Lost wax technique (LWT) fabricated Cobalt chromium (CoCr) alloy copings on shoulder (SH), radial shoulder (R-SH) and chamfer (CH) finish line configuration. Materials and Methods: Ninety resin, second maxillary premolar teeth were prepared for metal-ceramic crowns, equally divided into (n = 30) SH, R-SH and CH margin preparations. For each preparation design (SH, R-SH and CH), CoCr copings were prepared using SLM, CAD-CAM and LWT. ⋯ Conclusions: For vertical misfit, SLM copings showed poor outcomes compared to CAD-CAM specimens, however comparable outcomes to Cast specimens. SLM copings showed comparable horizontal misfit outcomes to CAD-CAM specimens and low misfit compared to Cast copings, respectively. Vertical misfit was low with shoulder margins, and horizontal misfit was better with chamfer marginal configuration.

Background and objectives: Most Koreans obtain medical information from the Internet. Despite the vast amount of information available, there is a possibility that patients acquire false information or are dissatisfied. Chronic ankle instability (CAI) is one of the most common sports injuries that develops after an ankle sprain. ⋯ University and private hospital websites had significantly higher DISCERN, accuracy, and exhaustivity scores compared to the other websites. Conclusions: Accurate medical information is essential for improving patient satisfaction and treatment outcomes. The quality of websites should be improved to provide high-quality medical information to patients, which can be facilitated by doctors.

Background and Objectives: The first inquisitorial processes were developed against Muslims and Jews. Then, they focused on women, especially those dedicated to care. Progressively, they were linked to witchcraft and sorcery due to their great assistance, generational and empirical knowledge. ⋯ Conclusions: Midwives, forerunners of current nursing and health sciences, overcame sociocultural difficulties, although they were condemned for it. Midwives achieved an accredited title, which was taken from them for two centuries. They acted as health agents in a society that demanded them while participating in a "witch hunt".

Endotheliopathy, according to the "two-activation theory of the endothelium", can be triggered by the activated complement system in critical illnesses, such as sepsis and polytrauma, leading to two distinctly different molecular dysfunctions: (1) the activation of the inflammatory pathway due to the release of inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor-α, and (2) the activation of the microthrombotic pathway due to the exocytosis of hemostatic factors, such as ultra-large von Willebrand factor (ULVWF) multimers and FVIII. The former promotes inflammation, including inflammatory organ syndrome (e.g., myocarditis and encephalitis) and multisystem inflammatory syndrome (e.g., cytokine storm), and the latter provokes endotheliopathy-associated vascular microthrombotic disease (VMTD), orchestrating thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)-like syndrome in arterial endotheliopathy, and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)-like syndrome in venous endotheliopathy, as well as multiorgan dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Because the endothelium is widely distributed in the entire vascular system, the phenotype manifestations of endotheliopathy are variable depending on the extent and location of the endothelial injury, the cause of the underlying pathology, as well as the genetic factor of the individual. ⋯ Endothelial molecular pathogenesis produces the complex syndromes of inflammation, VMTD, and autoimmunity, provoking various endotheliopathic syndromes. The novel conceptual discovery of in vivo hemostasis has opened the door to the understanding of the pathogeneses of many endotheliopathy-associated human diseases. Reviewed are the hemostatic mechanisms, pathogenesis, and diagnostic criteria of endotheliopathy, and identified are some of the endotheliopathic syndromes that are encountered in clinical medicine.
