Epilepsy is reported in 29-52% of patients with glioblastoma (GBM) and has an important role in the natural history of this tumor and patients' life quality. Although GBM is less epileptogenic than lower-grade gliomas, seizures are usually more difficult to control with common antiseizure medications; drug resistance is found in 20% of cases. ⋯ The better-characterized players include glutamate, γ-aminobutyric acid, aquaporin-4, and hypoxia-activated molecules. However, currently available data on the molecular basis of epileptogenesis, tumorigenesis, and their relationship is incomplete or discordant and further research is urgently needed on this topic.

Multicenter Study
Identifying Factors Predicting Kidney Graft Survival in Chile Using Elastic-Net-Regularized Cox's Regression.
Background and Objectives: We developed a predictive statistical model to identify donor-recipient characteristics related to kidney graft survival in the Chilean population. Given the large number of potential predictors relative to the sample size, we implemented an automated variable selection mechanism that could be revised in future studies as more national data is collected. Materials and Methods: A retrospective multicenter study was conducted to analyze data from 822 adult kidney transplant recipients from adult donors between 1998 and 2018. ⋯ Results: Seven variables were associated with the risk of death-censored graft failure; four from the donor: age (HR = 1.02, 95% CI: 1.00-1.03), male sex (HR = 0.64, 95% CI: 0.46-0.90), history of hypertension (HR = 1.49, 95% CI: 0.98-2.28), and history of diabetes (HR = 2.04, 95% CI: 0.97-4.29); two from the recipient: years on dialysis log-transformation (HR = 1.29, 95% CI: 0.99-1.67) and history of previous solid organ transplantation (HR = 2.02, 95% CI: 1.18-3.47); and one from the transplant: number of HLA mismatches (HR = 1.13, 95% CI: 0.99-1.28). Only the latter is considered for patient prioritization in deceased kidney allocation in Chile. Conclusions: A risk model for kidney graft failure was developed and trained for the Chilean population, providing objective criteria which can be used to improve efficiency in deceased kidney allocation.

We present an extremely rare case report of a 29-year-old multiple myeloma patient with central nervous system involvement and secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). We observed that HLH was presumably triggered by the immunomodulatory drug-lenalidomide. ⋯ As HLH requires immediate treatment, our report emphasizes the need to consider HLH in the differential diagnosis when the condition of a patient receiving chemotherapy rapidly deteriorates and an infectious etiology is excluded. We furthermore discuss the pathogenesis of HLH, with particular emphasis on drugs affecting the immune system as well as possible therapeutic strategies.

Objective: The aim of the study was to systematically review the overall outcomes of studies comparing the misfit of yttria-stabilized zirconia (Y-TZP) CAD-CAM implant-supported frameworks with frameworks fabricated with other materials and techniques. Methods: An electronic literature search of English literature was performed using Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE (OVID), EMBASE, and PubMed, using predetermined inclusion criteria. Specific terms were utilized in conducting a search from the inception of the respective database up to May 2022. ⋯ Three studies showed higher misfits for the Y-TZP CAD-CAM frameworks, whereas two studies reported lower misfits for Y-TZP CAD-CAM implant frameworks compared to controls. Conclusion: Y-TZP CAD-CAM implant-supported frameworks have comparable misfits to other implant-supported frameworks. However, due to heterogeneity in the methodologies of the included studies, the overall numerical misfit of the frameworks assessed in the reviewed studies is debatable.

Background and Objectives: Migraine is caused by genetic susceptibility that is triggered by environmental as well as biological factors, and it is also linked to many somatic comorbidities, including clinical and subclinical hypothyroidism. We aimed to estimate the potential association between subclinical hypothyroidism (ScH) and migraine in children at our tertiary hospital. Materials and Methods: Using a case−control strategy, 200 children and adolescents were assigned to two equal groups: a case group (patients with migraine) of 100 patients and a control group of 100 patients without migraine. ⋯ Obesity and being overweight are more frequent among patients with migraine. Therefore, it may be logical to test the thyroid function in migraineur children, especially those with high BMI. Further studies are recommended to discover the mechanism of this association in children.
