Observational Study
External Apical Root Resorption in Orthodontic Patients Who Practice Combat Sports: A Case-Control Observational Pilot Study.
Orthodontic treatment could lead to undesirable effects such as external apical root resorption (EARR). Moreover, trauma to both the face and teeth can predispose to EARR. On the other hand, the practice of combat sports results in increased maxillofacial injuries. ⋯ The CBCT scans were obtained from all patients prior to the beginning of the orthodontic treatment and 1 year later. At the end of the follow-up for the maxillary right central and lateral incisors of the exposed group, the EARR was significantly higher than the homologous teeth of the control group (p < 0.05). As a consequence, the patients treated orthodontically who practice combat sports could be more susceptible to EARR.

Background and Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) with oxaliplatin plus raltitrexed (HAICROX) as an alternative treatment option for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who are ineligible for, or failed, the transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment. Materials and Methods: From July 2020 to November 2021, a total of 35 HCC patients were enrolled and received HAIC with oxaliplatin plus raltitrexed. The overall survival (OS) and time to progression (TTP) were primary and secondary endpoints, respectively. ⋯ No grade 3 or higher adverse events related to HAICROX were observed. Conclusion: HAICROX showed valuable efficacy and tolerable toxicity in advanced HCC patients who progressed on TACE or were ineligible for TACE. HAICROX is a promising treatment for advanced-stage HCC patients with TACE failure or ineligibility.

Crohn's Disease and Jejunal Artery Aneurysms: A Report of the First Case and a Review of the Literature.
Background and Objectives: Jejunal artery (JA) and ileal artery (IA) aneurysms constitute less than 3% of all visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs), carrying a risk of rupture as high as 30%, and a mortality of 20%. Though many etiologies have been reported in the literature, no mention exists on a causal association between these aneurysms and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). We present the first case of a JA aneurysm related to Crohn's Disease (CD) together with a review of the literature. ⋯ Conclusions: The prompt treatment accomplished in our case granted a successful outcome. JA and IA aneurysms should be included among local complications of IBD. Considering their high potential for rupture, regardless of size, a low threshold for endovascular or surgical treatment should be applied.

Thyroid-Bed Schwannoma Mimicking a Thyroid Neoplasm: A Challenging Diagnosis: Report of a Case and Literature Review.
Schwannomas, also called neurinomas, are rare benign tumors of the neural cells that can develop from the sheaths of nervous structures of several districts, although the most frequent sites are the cranial nerves (25%-45%). Rarely, cases show neck schwannomas in the thyroid parenchyma, while the cases of thyroid-bed schwannomas mimicking a thyroid-gland lesions are anecdotal. ⋯ In the case of suspicious extra-thyroidal lesions, we advocate for a close routine cooperation between the cytologist, the radiologist, and the surgeon in the attempt to reach an accurate preoperative diagnosis.

Over the years, short term psychodynamic therapy (STPP) has been broadly researched in order to evaluate its efficacy in the treatment of major psychiatric disorders. In particular, a consistent number of studies focused on assessing clinical outcomes of the principal psychodynamic techniques in treating depressive disorders. We conducted a narrative review in which we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of STPP in monotherapy in major depressive disorder and to assess possible features that may correlate with its clinical use. ⋯ Our research underlined that STPP in monotherapy is particularly effective in moderately severe depression and in preventing depressive relapses. Moreover, a case-by-case evaluation of its efficacy should be performed when considering STPP for the treatment of major depression with other comorbid psychiatric conditions. Although such key points emerged from scientific evidence, STPP should be better studied in the long-term perspective; further research is needed to define the clinical scenarios in which STPP can be considered a first-line approach as monotherapy in major depressive disorder compared to medications or other types of psychotherapy.
