Background and Objectives: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are an important cause of perinatal and maternal morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to describe and compare the main pregnancy outcomes among pregnant patients with complicated and uncomplicated UTIs; Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 183 pregnant patients who were evaluated for uncomplicated UTIs and urosepsis in the Urology Department of 'C. I. ⋯ Results: Our results indicated that patients with urosepsis had increased risk of premature rupture of membranes (aOR: 5.59, 95%CI: 2.02-15.40, p < 0.001) and preterm birth (aOR: 2.47, 95%CI: 1.15-5.33, p = 0.02). We could not demonstrate a statistically significant association between intrauterine growth restriction and pre-eclampsia with the studied urological pathologies. Conclusions: Careful UTI screening during pregnancy is needed for preventing maternal-fetal complications.

Background and Objectives: This study investigated the differences in syntactic errors in older individuals with and without major depressive disorder and cognitive function disparities between groups. We also explored the correlation between syntax scores and depression severity. Materials and Methods: Forty-four participants, assessed for dementia with the Mini-Cog, completed the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale (TGDS-15) and specific language tests. ⋯ However, the relatively modest sample size limited the sensitivity of this association. This study also considered the potential influence of cultural factors. Unique linguistic characteristics in the study's context were also addressed and considered as potential contributors to the observed findings.

Adding robotic surgery to bionic reconstruction might open a new dimension. The objective was to evaluate if a robotically harvested rectus abdominis (RA) transplant is a feasible procedure to improve soft-tissue coverage at the residual limb (RL) and serve as a recipient for up to three nerves due to its unique architecture and to allow the generation of additional signals for advanced myoelectric prosthesis control. A transradial amputee with insufficient soft-tissue coverage and painful neuromas underwent the interventions and was observed for 18 months. ⋯ No donor-site morbidities were present, and EMG activity could be detected in all three muscle segments. The linear discriminant analysis (LDA) classifier could reliably distinguish three classes within 1% error tolerance using only the three electrodes on the muscle transplant and up to five classes outside the muscle transplant. The combination of these surgical procedure advances with emerging (myo-)control technologies can easily be extended to different amputation levels to reduce RL complications and augment control sites with a limited surface area, thus facilitating the usability of advanced myoelectric prostheses.

Giant Cell Arteritis after COVID-19 Vaccination with Long-Term Follow-Up: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic vasculitis that primarily affects the elderly, and can cause visual impairment, requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment. The global impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been substantial. Although vaccination programs have been a key defense strategy, concerns have arisen regarding post-vaccination immune-mediated disorders and related risks. ⋯ The time from onset of symptoms to GCA diagnosis varied from two weeks to four months, highlighting the challenge of early detection. The effectiveness of treatment varied, but was generally effective similarly to that of conventional GCA. This report emphasizes the need for clinical vigilance and encourages further data collection in post-vaccination GCA cases.

Traumatic events, especially massive trauma resulting from catastrophic incidents, wars, or severe abuse can elicit significant neuropsychological alterations, with profound implications for cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. This mini-review delineates the primary neural changes post-trauma and underscores the importance of timely neuropsychological and clinical interventions. Specific brain regions, including the amygdala and prefrontal cortex, undergo physiological changes that can lead to memory impairments, attention deficits, and emotional disturbances. ⋯ Current clinical interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and biofeedback, leverage this neuroplastic potential to foster healing. The review underscores the vital importance of early intervention to mitigate long-term neuropsychological impacts, emphasizing the role of timely and targeted clinical interventions. The synthesis of this knowledge is crucial for clinicians, allowing for informed therapeutic approaches that holistically address both the physiological and psychological dimensions of trauma.
