Background and Objectives: Gallbladder cancer is a rare type of cancer, with aggressive clinical behavior. Limited treatment options provide poor survival prognosis. We aimed to investigate the incidence, mortality trends, and survival of gallbladder and extrahepatic bile duct cancer in Lithuania between 1998 and 2017. ⋯ Conclusions: Incidence and mortality from gallbladder and extrahepatic bile duct cancer decreased in both sexes in Lithuania. Incidence and mortality rates were higher in females than in males. Relative 1-year and 5-year survival rates showed a steady increase during the study period among males and females.

Background and Objectives: Faricimab is a novel bispecific antibody with Fab regions inhibiting both vascular endothelial growth factor-A and angiopoietin-2. Therefore, this study aimed to obtain short-term outcomes of intravitreal injection of faricimab (IVF) for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) in daily clinical practice. Materials and Methods: A retrospective review was carried out on consecutive patients with DME who had been treated with IVF and were followed up for at least 1 month. ⋯ No significant difference in BCVA or CRT was observed between the treatment-naïve and switch groups. No serious safety concerns were noted. Conclusions: IVF for the treatment of DME may preserve visual acuity and improve macular thickness without serious safety concerns in the short term in a real-world clinical setting.

Background and Objectives: In-stent restenosis (ISR) is a major problem in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is a nutritional status score used in the literature to determine the prognosis of coronary artery disease. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of preprocedural PNI values on the risk of ISR in patients with stable coronary artery disease who underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention. ⋯ Concerning the results of the Cox regression hazard model for predictors of ISR, PNI was significantly associated with the development of ISR (HR = 0.932, 95% CI: 0.909-0.956, p < 0.001). In addition, stent type, stent length, and diabetes mellitus were associated with the development of ISR. Conclusions: A low PNI value indicates poor nutritional status, which is thought to accelerate inflammation processes and cause atherosclerosis and ISR.

Background and objectives: Even with the demand for high esthetics, the strength of the material for esthetic applications continues to be important. In this study, monolith zirconia (MZi) crowns fabricated using CAD/CAM were tested for fracture resistance (FR) in teeth with class II cavity designs with varying proximal depths, restored through a deep marginal elevation technique (DME). Materials and Methods: Forty premolars were randomly divided into four groups of ten teeth. ⋯ Conclusions: FR in teeth decreased when more tooth structure was involved, even with MZi crowns. However, DME up to 2 mm below the CEJ did not negatively influence the FR. Strengthening the DME-treated teeth with MZi crowns could be a reasonable clinical option, as the force required to fracture the samples far exceeded the maximum recorded biting force for posterior teeth.

Background and Objectives: TPO-RAs (romiplostim/eltrombopag/avatrombopag) have broadly demonstrated high efficacy rates (59-88%), durable responses (up to three years) and a satisfactory safety profile in clinical trials. The effect of TPO-RAs is classically considered to be transient because platelet numbers usually dropped rapidly to baseline unless therapy was maintained. However, several groups have reported the possibility of successfully discontinuing TPO-RAs in some patients without further need for concomitant treatments. ⋯ Here, we describe all major routine clinical practice studies and reviews that report the current position on this topic and compare them with our own results in Burgos. Results: We report our Burgos ten-step eltrombopag tapering scheme with which we have achieved an elevated percentage rate of success (70.3%) in discontinuing treatment. Conclusions: We hope this protocol may help successfully taper and discontinue TPO-RAs in daily clinical practice.
