Background and Objectives: Resin composites represent a class of materials widely used in restorative dentistry due to patient demands for better aesthetics. Colour changes in composite resins can occur due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Beverages, such as vegetable juices, can be some of these extrinsic factors. ⋯ Tomato juice produced the most discolouration for the Gradia Direct specimens, whereas beetroot juice and carrot juice produced the most discolouration for the Valux Plus specimens. Microhardness of the materials immersed for 7 days in vegetable juices was reduced compared to the ones immersed in distilled water. Conclusions: Vegetable juices, immersion time, and dental resin composites are significant factors that may affect colour stability and microhardness of composite resins.

A 66-year-old female patient was hospitalized with severe COVID-19 pneumonia, which led to hypoxia requiring oxygen support with high-flow nasal cannulae. She received anti-inflammatory treatment with a 10-day dexamethasone 6 mg PO course and a single infusion of IL-6 monoclonal antibody tocilizumab 640 mg IV. Treatment led to gradual reduction of oxygen support. ⋯ Targeted history taking revealed a dental procedure for periodontitis 4 weeks prior to hospitalization as the probable source. She received an 11-week antibiotic treatment, which led to resolution of the abscesses. This case report highlights the importance of individual infection risk assessment before the initiation of immunosuppressive treatment for COVID-19 pneumonia.

Objective: This work aimed to determine the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and reactive hyperemia (RH) in type 2 diabetes patients with and without cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN). Methodology: A systematic review of randomized and nonrandomized clinical studies characterizing reactive hyperemia and autonomic activity in type 2 diabetes patients with and without CAN was performed. Results: Five articles showed differences in RH between healthy subjects and diabetic patients with and/or without neuropathy, while one study did not show such differences between healthy subjects and diabetic patients, but patients with diabetic ulcers had lower RH index values compared to healthy controls. ⋯ The greatest evidence suggests a relationship between ANS and RH; however, there are no significant differences in RH between diabetic patients with and without CAN, as measured using FMD. When the flow of the microvascular territory is measured, the differences between diabetics with and without CAN become evident. Therefore, RH measured using PAT may reflect diabetic neuropathic changes with greater sensitivity compared to FMD.

Background and Objectives: Posterior fracture dislocations are rare. There is currently no uniformity regarding treatment. Therefore, outcomes are difficult to compare. ⋯ No signs of avascular necrosis, non-union, and arthritis progression were seen. No recurrence of dislocation or posterior instability symptoms were reported. Conclusions: We believe that our very satisfactory results stem from: (1) the manual reduction of the dislocation through a vertical posterior surgical approach, which does not produce further osteocartilaginous damage of the humeral head; (2) no multiple perforations of the humeral head are performed; (3) the threaded wires have a smaller diameter than the screws, therefore they preserve the bone tissue of the humeral head; (4) deperiostization or further detachment of soft tissues are not expected; (5) the adopted and validated system is stable and limits translation, torsion, and the collapse of the humeral head.

Background and Objectives: Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is an effective surgical procedure in the treatment of obesity. However, a significant percentage of patients suffer from weight regain over long-term follow-up. The mechanisms responsible for this process are still poorly understood. ⋯ The difference between the groups was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The study showed significantly better results in WM compared to WG (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Weight regain in the second year after SG may be a good factor for long-term bariatric surgery effectiveness prognosis.
