Background and Objectives: Coronary slow flow (CSF) is an angiographic phenomenon characterized by the slow progression of an injected contrast agent during diagnostic coronary angiography in the absence of significant stenosis. Although CSF is a common angiographic finding, the long-term outcomes and mortality rates are still unknown. This study aimed to investigate the underlying causes of mortality over a 10-year period in patients diagnosed with stable angina pectoris (SAP) and CSF. ⋯ The mean TFC was associated with CV mortality. Conclusion: Patients with CSF exhibited a notable increase in cardiovascular-related and overall mortality rates after 10 years of follow-up. HT, discontinuation of medications, HDL-C levels, and mean TFC were associated with mortality in patients with CSF.

A Single Center Observational Study of Spirometry Assessments in Children with Congenital Heart Disease after Surgery.
Background: Children with congenital heart disease (CHD) have impaired pulmonary function both before and after surgery; therefore, pulmonary function assessments are important and should be performed both before and after open-heart surgery. This study aimed to compare pulmonary function between variant pediatric CHD types after open-heart surgery via spirometry. Methods: In this retrospective study, the data for forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), and the ratio between FEV1 and FVC (FEV1/FVC) were collected from patients with CHD who underwent conventional spirometry between 2015 and 2017. ⋯ Spirometry was abnormal in 54.70% of patients: obstructive type in 29.06% of patients, restrictive type in 19.76% of patients, and mixed type in 5.81% of patients. More abnormal findings were found in patients who received the Fontan procedure (80.00% vs. 35.80%, p = 0.048). Conclusions: Developing novel therapies to optimize pulmonary function will be critical for improving clinical outcomes.

Background and Objectives: Pain is still undertreated among ICU patients, especially cognitively impaired patients. Nurses play a crucial role in their management. However, previous studies found that nurses had insufficient knowledge about pain assessment and management. ⋯ Materials and Methods: A convenience sample of 200 Jordanian nurses responded to the Pain Assessment and Management for the Critically Ill questionnaire to achieve the study's aim. Results: The type of hospital, academic qualification, years of experience as a critical care nurse, and hospital affiliation were significantly associated with increased use of self-report pain assessment tools for verbal patients, while the type of hospital and hospital affiliation was significantly associated with an increased use of observational pain assessment tools for nonverbal patients. Conclusion: Examining the association between socio-demographic characteristics and the use of pain assessment tools for critically ill patients is essential for quality pain practice.

Background and Objectives: Lorlatinib (LOR) belongs to the third-generation anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) tyrosine kinase inhibitors. People who are diagnosed with ALK-positive metastatic and advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are eligible to get it as a first-line treatment option after it was given the approval by "the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)". However, no study has described constructing high-throughput analytical methodology for LOR quantitation in dosage form. ⋯ The assay was applied with great success for determining LOR in its tablets. Conclusions: This The assay is straightforward, economic and has high-throughput characteristics. Consequently, the assay is recommended as a valuable analytical approach in quality control laboratories for LOR's tablets' analysis.

Autoimmune Thyroiditis Shifting from Hashimoto's Thyroiditis to Graves' Disease.
In 15-20% of cases, Graves' disease (GD) shifts to Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), while the shift from HT to GD is rare. We present a case of a patient in whom HT shifted to GD, along with a literature review. A 50-year-old woman with myxedema was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease due to hypothyroidism and the presence of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin (TgAb); she also had thyroid stimulating antibodies (TSAb) without any signs of GD. ⋯ All patients received thyroid hormone replacement therapy for hypothyroidism due to HT. Continuous evaluation of TSAb levels is recommended in HT, particularly in cases of TSAb-positive and those under replacement, since it may help predict conversion to GD. Evaluating the clinical characteristics of patients with HT preceding GD is crucial to ensure appropriate treatment and reduce the risk of adverse events.
