Medication adherence by patients with diabetes is critical, as it plays a crucial role in individuals' long-term health and well-being. We evaluated the medication adherence, illness perception, diabetes knowledge, and associated factors among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) attending primary health centers (PHCs) in the eastern province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) using a validated Arabic version of a data collection form. In order to identify the variables that are associated with medication adherence, we applied a logistic regression analysis. ⋯ Furthermore, we found a significant positive correlation between medication adherence and illness perception (rho = 0.217, p = 0.007) and knowledge of diabetes and medication adherence (rho = 0.425, p < 0.001). We recommend improving T2DM patients' knowledge about the importance of adherence to their medication regimen in several health education sessions at the PHCs. In addition, we recommend mixed-method medication adherence assessment surveys in different parts of the KSA.

Background and Objectives: To identify the incidence, causes, and independent predictors of postoperative febrile morbidity among patients undergoing myomectomy. Material and methods: Medical records of patients who had undergone myomectomy at Chiang Mai University Hospital between January 2017 and June 2022 were comprehensively reviewed. The clinical variables, including age, body mass index, previous surgery, leiomyoma size and number, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) fibroid type, preoperative and postoperative anemia, type of surgery, operative time, estimated blood loss, and intraoperative antiadhesive use, were analyzed as a predictive factor of postoperative febrile morbidity. ⋯ The cause could not be identified in most cases. The independent risk factors included abdominal myomectomy, overweight, prolonged operation time, and postoperative anemia. Of them, abdominal myomectomy was the most significant risk factor.

Background and Objectives: Colon cancer (CC) has a high mortality rate and is often diagnosed at an advanced stage in Saudi Arabia. Thus, the identification and characterization of potential new cancer-specific biomarkers are imperative for improving the diagnosis of CC by detecting it at an early stage. Cancer-testis (CT) genes have been identified as potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis of various cancers. ⋯ The 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine and trichostatin treatments significantly induced the mRNA expression levels of the SSX1, SSX2, and SSX3 genes in the CC cells in vitro. Conclusions: These findings suggest that SSX1 and SSX2 are potentially suitable candidate biomarkers for CC. Their expressions can be regulated via hypomethylating and histone deacetylase treatments, subsequently providing a potential therapeutic target for CC.

Harnessing the Power of PAOO and Invisalign: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Orthodontic Care.
The present article explores the benefits of combining periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO) with Invisalign for optimal orthodontic treatment outcomes. PAOO is an interdisciplinary dental technique that minimizes complications and accelerates tooth movement while enhancing various orthodontic treatments. In conjunction with Invisalign, PAOO provides a discreet and comfortable solution for patients seeking to improve their smile. ⋯ Furthermore, the combination with Invisalign offers a more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable treatment experience, allowing patients to maintain their self-esteem and confidence throughout the treatment. Despite the potential advantages, dental professionals must manage patient expectations and address potential complications to ensure the best possible results. Overall, the integration of PAOO and Invisalign demonstrates a viable alternative for patients who do not want to proceed with orthognathic surgery, enhancing patient satisfaction and overall treatment outcomes.

Reconstruction of High-Grade Trochlea Dysplasia in a Young Female with Recurrent Patella Dislocation: A Case Report.
The patellofemoral joint involves a combination of bony structures and soft tissues to maintain stability. Patella instability is a disabling condition, and the cause is multifactorial. The main risk factors include patella alta, trochlea dysplasia, excessive tibial tuberosity to trochlea grove (TT-TG) distance, and excessive lateral patella tilt. ⋯ Due to the complexity behind the anatomy and biomechanics of patella instability, an easy-to-follow treatment algorithm is essential for the treating surgeon to provide effective and efficient treatment. MQTFL reconstruction is recommended for recurrent patella dislocation due to satisfactory clinical and patient reported outcomes and a reduced risk of iatrogenic patella fracture. Controversies for surgical indication in lateral retinacular release, and whether the sulcus angle is an accurate parameter for diagnosis of trochlea dysplasia, remain, and further research is required.
