Foreign body aspiration (FBA) is a frequent diagnosis in children. In the absence of other lung conditions, such as asthma or chronic pulmonary infections, this manifests as a sudden onset of cough, dyspnea, and wheezing. The differential diagnosis is based on a scoring system which takes into account the clinical picture as well as the radiologic aspects. ⋯ Conclusions: Foreign body aspiration is a major medical emergency that may be associated with dramatic clinical manifestations. Several scoring algorithms designed to establish the need for bronchoscopy have been proposed, taking into account both the clinical and radiological results. The issue with asymptomatic or mild symptomatic cases, as well as difficulties managing cases with radiolucent foreign bodies, remains a challenge.

Localized scleroderma (also known as morphea) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by depressed, fibrotic, and dyschromic cutaneous lesions. It has a significant impact on the patient's daily life due to the unaesthetic evolution of the cutaneous lesions. Morphea is clinically divided into linear, circumscribed (plaque), generalized, pansclerotic, and mixed forms. ⋯ In any case, these treatments are not always effective and sometimes can be associated with important side effects and/or not tolerated by the patients. In this spectrum, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection can be considered a valid and safe alternative since PRP injections in the skin induce the release of anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors, thus reducing inflammation and increasing collagen remodeling. Herein, we describe a successful treatment of an adult-onset LM en coupe de sabre with photoactivated low-temperature PRP (Meta Cell Technology Plasma) sessions, showing an important local improvement of the lesion and patient satisfaction.

Effects of Eccentric-Oriented Strength Training on Return to Sport Criteria in Late-Stage Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)-Reconstructed Professional Team Sport Players.
Background and Objectives: An effective post-injury training program is essential to regain performance and fulfill criteria for return to sport for team sport athletes following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of 6 weeks of eccentric-oriented strength training vs. traditional strength training during the late-stage ACL-rehab phase on leg strength and vertical and horizontal jumping performance in professional team sport athletes. Materials and Methods: Twenty-two subjects (14 males, 8 females, age 19.9 ± 4.4 years, mass 77.4 ± 15.6 kg, height 182.4 ± 11.7 cm) (mean ± SD) with a unilateral reconstructed ACL (BTB graft) were included in the study. ⋯ Significant group-by-time interactions were found for ISOSU (p < 0.05, ES = 2.51, very large), ISOSI (p < 0.05, ES = 1.78, large), CMJ (p < 0.05, ES = 2.23, very large), SLJI (p < 0.05, ES = 1.48, large), SLHI (p < 0.05, ES = 1.83, large), and TLHI (p < 0.05, ES = 1.83, large). Conclusions: This study suggests that eccentric-oriented strength training in late-stage ACL recovery, undertaken twice or three times weekly for 6 weeks, results in better outcomes than traditional strength training in leg strength, vertical jump ability, and single and triple hop tests with injured legs in professional team sport athletes. It seems that flywheel strength training can be recommended in late-stage ACL recovery for professional team sport athletes in order to regain recommended performance outcome levels faster.

Background and Objectives: To report the real-life Brolucizumab therapeutical outcomes of treatment-naïve and non-treatment-naïve eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and to analyze the incidence of therapy-related adverse events. Materials and Methods: A total of 56 eyes of 54 patients diagnosed with nAMD were retrospectively evaluated over a 3-month follow-up. Naïve eyes received a 3-month loading phase, whereas non-naïve eyes were treated with one intravitreal injection + ProReNata scheme. ⋯ Non-naïve patients exhibited significant mean BCVA changes only with respect to SR and IR fluid presence (SRPE = MD: -0.13 (p = 0.152); SR = MD: -0.15 (p = 0.007); IR = MD: -0.06 (p = 0.011). One naïve patient experienced acute-onset anterior and intermediate uveitis which completely resolved after therapy. Conclusions: Brolucizumab was demonstrated to be a safe and efficient alternative in improving both the anatomical and functional parameters of eyes with nAMD in this small, uncontrolled, series of patients.

Background: The arthroscopic Broström procedure is a promising treatment for chronic ankle instability. However, little is known regarding the location of the intermediate superficial peroneal nerve at the level of the inferior extensor retinaculum; knowledge about this location is important for procedural safety. The purpose of this cadaveric study was to clarify the anatomical relationship between the intermediate superficial peroneal nerve and the sural nerve at the level of the inferior extensor retinaculum. ⋯ The mean distances from the anterolateral portal to the proximal and distal sural nerve were 47.6 ± 5.7 (range, 37.4-57.2) mm and 47.2 ± 4.1 (range, 41.0-51.8) mm), respectively. Conclusions: During the arthroscopic Broström procedure, the intermediate superficial peroneal nerve may be damaged by the anterolateral portal; the proximal and distal parts of the intermediate superficial peroneal nerve were located within 15.9 and 30.1 mm, respectively, at the level of the inferior extensor retinaculum in cadavers. These areas should be considered danger zones during the arthroscopic Broström procedure.
