Endometriosis is a significant cause of disability that affects 5-10% of reproductive-aged women. Laparoscopy with histological confirmation is the gold standard in establishing the diagnosis as therapeutic management surgery is addressed to a certain category of patients. The objective of this study was to assess patient adherence to follow-up after surgery for endometriosis as the primary endpoint, pain symptoms, quality of life, mental health, and fertility as the secondary endpoints. ⋯ Furthermore, no malignancy was discovered. The mental component was improved by laparoscopy based on SF-36 in group B. Studies on patient preference for surgery versus alternative treatment are needed.

Background and Objectives: Post-COVID-19 syndrome is commonly used to describe signs and symptoms that continue or develop after acute COVID-19 for more than 12 weeks. The study aimed to evaluate a treatment strategy in patients with adhesive capsulitis (phase 1) developed in post-COVID-19 syndrome. Materials and Methods: The method used was an interventional pilot study in which 16 vaccinated patients presenting with the clinical and ultrasound features of adhesive capsulitis (phase 1) developed during post-COVID-19 syndrome were treated with infiltrative hydrodistension therapy under ultrasound guidance associated with early rehabilitation treatment. ⋯ The VAS mean score before the treatment was 6.9 ± 1.66. After 10 weeks of treatment, the VAS score was 1 ± 0.63. Conclusions: The study demonstrated that the management of adhesive capsulitis (phase 1) developed in post-COVID-19 syndrome, as conducted by physiotherapists in a primary care setting using hydrodistension and a rehabilitation protocol, represented an effective treatment strategy.

Antibiotic Susceptibility Surveillance in the Punjab Province of Pakistan: Findings and Implications.
Background and Objectives: The increase in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across countries has seriously impacted the effective management of infectious diseases, with subsequent impact on morbidity, mortality and costs. This includes Pakistan. Antimicrobial surveillance activities should be mandatory to continually assess the extent of multidrug-resistant bacteria and the implications for future empiric prescribing. ⋯ This calls for urgent actions including initiating antimicrobial stewardship programs to enhance prudent prescribing of antibiotics. This includes agreeing on appropriate empiric therapy as part of agreed guidelines, in line with the WHO EML and AWaRe book, whilst awaiting culture reports. This is alongside other measures to reduce inappropriate antimicrobial prescribing and reverse the threat of rising AMR.

Pulmonary Valve Endocarditis during and beyond Euro ENDO Registry: A Single Center Case Series.
Background: Pulmonary valve infective endocarditis (PVIE) is a rare form of infective endocarditis (IE) and is associated with high mortality and severe complications. Guidelines for treatment of this form of IE are scarce and based on general recommendations. We report a case series of PVE. ⋯ Conclusion: Symptoms in PVIE may be versatile, and diagnosis is often delayed. High level of suspicion, early recognition, and echocardiography are cornerstones in diagnostics. Despite the standpoint that medical therapy is first-line, the role of surgery needs to be advocated in particular cases.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an illness with increasing prevalence, particularly in emerging countries, which can have a substantial impact on the quality of life of the patient. The illness is rather heterogeneous with different evolution among patients. A machine learning approach is followed in this paper to identify potential genes that are related to IBD. ⋯ Following a machine learning approach, it was possible to obtain a classification accuracy of 84.2% differentiating between patients with IBD and control cases in a large cohort of 2490 total cases. The sensitivity and specificity of the model were 82.6% and 84.4%, respectively. It was also possible to distinguish between the two main types of IBD: (1) Crohn's disease and (2) ulcerative colitis.
