Ectopic parathyroid adenoma is a rare pathology. We present a clinical case of a giant ectopic parathyroid adenoma (PA) in an unusual location, which brought significant diagnostical and therapeutical challenges. The tumour in the mediastinum was found incidentally on chest computed tomography (CT). ⋯ The tumour was excised via right thoracotomy. The final histological examination revealed a parathyroid adenoma, which was unexpected for our team. After three years of observation, there is no evidence of tumour recurrence.

Multiple Small Bowel Cavernous Hemangiomatosis: Case Report and Literature Review.
A 79 year old female individual presented to the hospital and complained of 1 month melena and anemia due to chronic gastrointestinal bleeding because of cavernous hemangiomatosis of the small bowel. After undergoing an initial video laparoscopic jejunal-ileal resection surgery 7 days after first hospitalization, given the persistence of anemia, she underwent laparotomic duodenojejunal resection surgery again 2 months later. ⋯ Diagnoses often require the use of multiple radiological and endoscopic methods; video capsule endoscopy has significantly increased the diagnostic rate. The gold standard of treatment is surgical resection, whenever possible, balancing the need for radicality with the possible metabolic consequences of massive small intestine resections.

Birth weight, which exhibits variability across different populations, is influenced by a mix of genetic, environmental, and dietary factors originating from both the mother and father. Maternal characteristics, including age, socioeconomic status, prior pregnancies, weight, height, and weight increase throughout pregnancy, have a substantial influence on fetal growth and the health of the infant. On the other hand, the influence of paternal characteristics on the weight of newborns is still not fully comprehended in a consistent manner. ⋯ While there may be differences in the conducted studies, these findings provide valuable insights into the complex connection between parental characteristics and fetal development. This data can be utilized to enhance clinical treatment strategies and enhance our comprehension of outcomes for neonates. Further homogeneous investigations are required to conclusively validate and build upon these findings.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age, with significant variations in presentation characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology. Beyond reproductive health, it may also pose crucial long-term cardiometabolic risks, especially for women with specific types of PCOS, contributing to early subclinical cardiovascular atherosclerotic alterations such as endothelial dysfunction, increased arterial stiffness, and coronary artery calcium levels, respectively. ⋯ Diagnostic challenges and novel management strategies, including lifestyle interventions, medications like metformin and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), hormonal contraceptives, and bariatric surgery, are further discussed. Recognizing the cardiometabolic risks associated with PCOS, a comprehensive approach and early intervention should address both the reproductive and cardiometabolic dimensions of the syndrome.

Background/Objectives: Melanoma is an aggressive skin malignancy, and the majority of deaths associated with melanoma result from malignant skin lesions. Our study aims to evaluate the expression of the markers CD133 and NANOG, associated with tumor stem cells, and to analyze their link with epidemiological and histological parameters, thus contributing to early diagnosis and the development of targeted therapies. Methods: We performed a retrospective study in the Mureș Clinical County Hospital, Romania, which included 66 cases of melanoma: 50 primary cutaneous melanomas, 10 metastases, and 6 local recurrences. ⋯ Local recurrences showed positive expression for NANOG in four cases (66%). Conclusions: The expression of CD133 and NANOG markers highlights the role of tumor stem cells in melanoma progression. Early identification of these markers could improve diagnosis and treatment, including the application of targeted therapies.
