Background and Objectives: Sarcoidosis, marked by chronic inflammation and granuloma formation, shows a variable clinical course. While many patients have benign outcomes, others face chronic, life-threatening complications. Mortality studies in sarcoidosis show mixed results due to age, ethnicity, sex, and geography, highlighting the need for a comprehensive mortality risk analysis. ⋯ Key mortality predictors included age at diagnosis, male gender, and higher Charlson comorbidity index score. Conclusions: Sarcoidosis patients, particularly younger ones and those with higher comorbidity burdens, have elevated mortality risks compared to controls, with the highest HR in the first year post-diagnosis. These findings highlight the most vulnerable period of the disease.

High-Risk Biliary Anastomosis During Robotic Pancreaticoduodenectomy: Initial Experience with Biodegradable Biliary Stent.
Background and Objectives: Biliary fistulas (BFs) occur in approximately 3-8% of patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), and the bile duct diameter ≤ 5 mm is the most important risk factor. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of biodegradable biliary stents (BSs) in reducing complications in patients undergoing robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) with a bile duct diameter of ≤5 mm. Materials and Methods: A retrospective single-centre observational study was conducted. ⋯ The use of biodegradable stents facilitates a faster and easier biliary anastomosis. These findings suggest a potential benefit of using biodegradable stents in complex biliary reconstruction. However, larger studies are needed to confirm these results.

Background and Objectives: Oral rehabilitation seeks to enhance mastication, a vital component of oral function that is compromised by tooth loss. This study aimed to assess the degree of improvement of masticatory performance in partially edentulous patients rehabilitated with removable partial dentures (RPD) or fixed partial dental prosthesis (FPDP). Changes in the occlusal contact area (OCA) and satisfaction with their chewing ability during the adaptation period were also evaluated. ⋯ Conclusions: Conventional prostheses benefited partially edentulous individuals, improving masticatory performance by 20%. Treatment also increased the OCA in all types of partial edentulism, except in Kennedy class I patients rehabilitated with RPD. Patients' satisfaction with their chewing ability only increased in Kennedy class III patients rehabilitated with RPD.
