Background and Objectives: This study delves into the attitudes, beliefs and determinants influencing the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine among the Lithuanian population. Materials and Methods: Utilizing a cross-sectional study design, a total of 3166 respondents were surveyed. ⋯ This study also highlights the influence of external factors, such as the activity of the "anti-vaxxer" movement and the introduction of vaccination certificates. Conclusions: The results emphasize the need for targeted educational interventions and comprehensive public health campaigns to address vaccine hesitancy and promote widespread immunization.

Background and Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is common not only in the general population but even more so in patients with tumors of the head and neck region. Untreated, it leads to reduced quality of life, increased daytime sleepiness, and other comorbidities. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in the occurrence of OSA in the patient population with head and neck tumors compared with the general population as represented by the Trend cohort of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP), and to assess the influence of tumor treatment. ⋯ Conclusions: OSA is a relevant condition in patients with head and neck cancer. Tumor treatment can lead to an increased occurrence of sleep-related breathing disorders, especially in patients with advanced tumor stages undergoing primary chemoradiation. Additional studies are necessary to better understand the exact mechanism involved.

Background and Objectives: Alcoholic hepatitis (AH) poses a medical challenge, causing moderately severe to life-threatening episodes with high short- and long-term mortality. This study aimed to explore real-world corticosteroid utilization in severe AH, response predictors, and patient outcomes. Materials and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on patients admitted for severe AH, defined as a Maddrey Discriminant Function score equal to or above 32, at a tertiary care center. ⋯ Among the prognostic scores, MELD 3.0 score exhibited superior efficacy for short-term (AUC = 0.734, 95% CI 0.656-0.811) and long-term mortality (AUC = 0.777, 95% CI: 0.724-0.830) compared to alternative scoring systems. Conclusions: Low eligibility rate and poor prognosis underscore the need for effective therapies. Our findings contribute to refining risk stratification and early prediction of non-response, aiding clinicians in identifying more beneficial therapies.

Background and Objectives: The surge in breast-related surgeries in Korea underscores the critical need for an accurate early diagnosis of silicone breast implant-related issues. Complications such as BIA-ALCL and BIA-SCC add complexity to breast health concerns, necessitating vigilant monitoring. Despite advancements, discrepancies persist between ultrasonographic and pathologic classifications of silicone implant ruptures, highlighting a need for enhanced diagnostic tools. ⋯ Conclusions: High-resolution ultrasonography emerged as a valuable and reliable imaging modality for diagnosing silicone breast implant ruptures, with a notable ability to ascertain the extent of free silicone migration to capsules. This diagnostic precision is pivotal in informing decisions about potential capsulectomy during revisional surgery. The study advocates for an update to the current binary ultrasonographic classification, suggesting a more nuanced categorization into three types (subcapsular, intracapsular, and extracapsular) based on pathology.
