Background and Objectives: A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is part of the diagnostic protocol in pituitary adenoma patients. The goal of the present study is to present and analyse the MRI appearances of the sphenoid sinus (SS) in patients with non-functioning pituitary adenoma (NFPA). Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective case-control study conducted between January 2015 and December 2023 in a tertiary referral hospital. ⋯ The proportion of patients with SS mucosal thickness greater than 3 mm was 42.5% in NFPA group and 3% in the control group, and this difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001). The space between the two optic nerves was significantly larger in the NFPA group as compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Our study was able to establish a statistically significant association between the presence of NFPA and both the thickening of the SS mucosa and increased space between optic nerves.

Clinical Characteristics, Investigations and Treatment in Children with Chronic Urticaria: An Observational Study.
Background and Objectives: The guidelines for chronic urticaria in children contain recommendations that are often based on adult studies. The diagnostic pathway has not been standardized and the effectiveness of anti-H1, omalizumab, montelukast, and systemic glucocorticoids is rarely reported in the pediatric population. There is a wide variation in the rate of remission of chronic urticaria between studies. ⋯ However, comorbidities such as thyroid autoimmune disease and coeliac disease are suggested to be monitored over the chronic urticaria course. These clinical conditions could be diagnosed from the diagnostic framework of chronic urticaria. Increasing the dosage of anti-H1 and omalizumab was effective in children resistant to standard treatment but we still need further studies to generate a standard patient-centered treatment.

Background and Objectives: The investigation of oncogenic viruses and their potential association with breast cancer (BC) remains an intriguing area of study. The current work aims to assess evidence of three specific viruses, human papillomavirus (HPV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in BC samples and to explore their relationship with relevant clinicopathological variables. Materials and Methods: The analysis involved BC samples from 110 Jordanian female patients diagnosed with BC and breast tissue samples from 30 control patients with no evidence of breast malignancy, investigated using real-time PCR. ⋯ A statistically significant association was observed between HPV status and age (p = 0.047), and between clinical stage and CMV infection (p = 0.015). Conclusions: Our findings indicate the presence or co-presence of HPV, CMV, and EBV in the BC subpopulation, suggesting a potential role in its development and/or progression. Further investigation is required to elucidate the underlying mechanisms that account for the exact role of oncoviruses in breast carcinogenesis.

Endogenous Endophthalmitis from Urinary Tract Infection Caused by Group B Streptococcus: A Case Report.
We present a case of endogenous endophthalmitis with urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by group B Streptococcus (GBS). An 86-year-old female initially presented with ocular pain and sudden visual disturbance of the left eye. The patient did not complain of other symptoms and had no history of recent ocular surgery or trauma. ⋯ However, the symptoms worsened despite repeated intravitreal injections, so evisceration was performed. Endogenous endophthalmitis caused by GBS is very virulent and may present without evident systemic symptoms. The early recognition of the disease and systemic work up, followed by prompt treatment, is necessary.

Assessing Uveitis Risk following Pediatric Down Syndrome Diagnosis: A TriNetX Database Study.
Background and Objectives: The risks of uveitis development among pediatric patients with Down syndrome (DS) remain unclear. Therefore, we aimed to determine the risk of uveitis following a diagnosis of DS. Materials and Methods: This multi-institutional retrospective cohort study utilized the TriNetX database to identify individuals aged 18 years and younger with and without a diagnosis of DS between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2023. ⋯ Subgroup analyses based on different age groups showed that those aged 0-1 year (HR: 1.36 [CI: 0.68-2.72]), 0-5 years (HR: 1.34 [CI: 0.75-2.39]), and 6-18 years (HR: 1.15 [CI: 0.67-1.96]) were found to have no association with uveitis risk compared to their respective non-DS comparators. There was also no increased risk of uveitis among females (HR: 1.49 [CI: 0.87-2.56]) or males (HR: 0.82 [CI: 0.48-1.41]) with DS compared to their respective non-DS comparators. Conclusions: Our study found no overall increased risk of uveitis following a diagnosis of DS compared to a matched control population.
