Background: Mesenchymal uterine tumors are a diverse group of neoplasms with varying biological potential. Many of these neoplasms can have overlapping morphologic similarities, which, in some instances, render their diagnosis and categorization thorough histomorphologic examination inconclusive. In the last decade, an exponential amount of molecular data aiming to more accurately characterize and, consequently, treat these tumors have accumulated. Objective: The goal of this narrative review is to provide a pathologic review, a genetic update, and to know the new therapeutic avenues of primary uterine mesenchymal neoplasms.

Background and Objectives: Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii), particularly carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAB), represents a grave concern in healthcare settings and is associated with high mortality. This study aimed to conduct molecular, mutational, and phylogenetic analyses of specific genes in CRAB and evaluate the synergistic effects of selected antimicrobial combinations. Materials and Methods: Phenotypic characterization was performed on six CRAB strains by using the Modified Hodge Test (MHT) and IMP-EDTA Double-Disc Synergy Test (IMP-EDTA DDST). ⋯ The checkerboard titration method did not reveal any synergism among the tested antimicrobial combinations against CRAB. Conclusion: This study's findings underscore the significant challenges posed by CRAB isolates harboring multiple resistant genes in treatment. This highlights the urgent need for novel antimicrobial agents, a crucial step towards reducing mortality rates not only in Pakistan but also globally.

Background: The treatment and escape for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has rapidly evolved, particularly with the integration of immune therapies into first-line regimens. However, optimal strategies following progression in first-line immunotherapy remain uncertain. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of axitinib and cabozantinib as third-line therapies after progression on nivolumab following first-line VEGF-TKI therapy. ⋯ Adverse events were manageable, with hypertension, fatigue, and diarrhea being the most common. Conclusion: Axitinib and cabozantinib show promise as third-line therapies post-nivolumab progression in metastatic RCC, though prospective validation is warranted. This study underscores the need for further research to establish treatment standards in this evolving landscape.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is a broadly diffuse valvular heart disease (VHD) with a significant impact on the healthcare system and patient prognosis. Transcatheter mitral valve interventions (TMVI) are now well-established techniques included in the therapeutic armamentarium for managing patients with mitral regurgitation, either primary or functional MR. ⋯ This manuscript aims to provide an exhaustive overview of the main parameters that need to be evaluated for appropriate device selection, pre-procedural planning, intra-procedural guidance and post-operative assessment in the setting of TMVI. In addition, it tries to give some insights about future perspectives for structural cardiovascular imaging.

Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich Syndrome Complicated with Vesicovaginal Fistula: A Rare Case Report.
Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich (HWW) syndrome is characterized by obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly, a rare congenital anomaly of the genitourinary tract, resulting from malformations of the renal tract associated with Müllerian duct anomalies. The initial symptoms of HWW frequently present after menarche and may be nonspecific, leading to a delayed diagnosis. We presented a 19-year-old female with 3-year hematuria and abdominal pain. ⋯ The patient improved well after surgery and fully recovered without sequelae after 3 months. In addition, unilateral renal agenesis is one of congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract, which are the most frequent cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children. This report describes a patient of HWW syndrome with rarely combined vesicovaginal fistula, and highlights the importance of early recognition and management to prevent associated complications.
