Mean Atd Angle among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients Visiting a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
An atd angle is one of the dermatoglyphic patterns which is an indication of the degree of distal displacement of the axial triradius on the palm. This is one of the markers of diabetes mellitus that is used as a screening tool in order to reduce the risk of onset and initiate early treatment. The aim of this study is to find the mean atd angle among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients visiting a tertiary care centre. ⋯ dermatoglyphic; diabetes mellitus; prevalence.

Lumbosacral Transitional Vertebra among Patients Visiting the Department of Orthopaedics in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Lumbosacral transitional vertebra is a normal anatomical variant at the L5-S1 junction with an incidence as high as 4-36%. This alteration results in incorrect identification of vertebral segments leading to wrong surgery. The aim of the study was to find out the prevalence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra among patients visiting the department of orthopaedics in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ The prevalence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra was similar to other studies done in similar settings.

Ruptured Corpus Luteum among Women Undergoing Laparotomy for Hemoperitoneum in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Rupture of the corpus luteum, though generally self-limiting in women with normal coagulation, could lead to life-threatening bleeding in patients with prosthetic valves on anticoagulant therapy and described in only a few case reports in the literature. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of ruptured corpus luteum among women undergoing laparotomy for hemoperitoneum in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ anticoagulant; corpus luteum; hemoperitoneum.

Case ReportsDiagnostic Dilemma of Central Nervous System Tuberculosis with Neurocysticercosis and Neurosarcoidosis: A Case Report.
Multiple ring-enhancing lesions are commonly encountered abnormalities in neuroimaging. There are many differentials for such lesions as infections, neoplasms, vascular lesions, inflammatory and demyelinating conditions, and granulomatous diseases. In developing countries, tuberculoma and neurocysticercosis are the two important etiologies to be considered. This case report illustrates how multiple ring-enhancing lesions can lead to our management in one direction while the true diagnosis remains elusive. A 53-year-old male who presented with a headache was initially diagnosed and treated as neurocysticercosis, then neurosarcoidosis ultimately turned out to be a case of Central Nervous System Tuberculosis on further evaluation. Consideration of only clinical scenarios and neurological imaging can lead to diagnostic inaccuracy, mismanagement and poor outcome, therefore, other supporting lab investigations should be considered for making a correct diagnosis. ⋯ brain; case reports; neurocysticercosis; sarcoidosis; tuberculoma.

Case ReportsCecal Perforation Following Intraperitoneal Abscess after Anti-tubercular Therapy: A Case Report.
Abdominal tuberculosis is defined as infection of gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, abdominal solid organs, and/or abdominal lymphatics constituting approximately 12% of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis cases. Intestinal perforation is an acute presentation of abdominal tuberculosis. Intestinal perforation can occur before or at the beginning of anti-tubercular therapy. It is considered to be a paradoxical reaction if it occurs during or after treatment. Intestinal perforation is uncommon but serious and life-threatening as complication-mortality rate secondary to perforation are estimated to be >30%. We present a case of an 18-year-old female who developed cecal perforation following an intraperitoneal abscess after completion of anti-tubercular therapy for intestinal tuberculosis. She was a known case of intestinal tuberculosis. She had undergone pigtail catheterisation for an intraperitoneal abscess and completed 18 months of anti-tubercular therapy after which she developed cecal perforation. A paradoxical response was observed following the completion of anti-tubercular therapy. Early diagnosis and treatment reduce the complications and mortality rates of cecal perforation due to abdominal tuberculosis. ⋯ case reports; cecum; intestinal perforation; tuberculosis.
