Dengue is one of the most common viral infections affecting the general population in endemic areas annually. However, it is barely reported in newborns owing to a widespread belief that they are protected from severe viral infections in the first six months of life by the presence of maternal antibodies. Here we present a case of a 23-day-old male infant born to primigravida with dengue fever with the post-natal transmission of infection. He presented with complaints of fever for three days. On general examination, red-coloured pinpoint macular rashes were observed bilaterally on lower limbs. No significant findings were present on systemic examination. On routine sepsis workup, thrombocytopenia was present. Acknowledging the endemicity and expanding dengue cases, NS1 antigen and antibody IgM and IgG of the baby were tested which came positive for antigen and IgM antibody. Even so, the mother was asymptomatic with NS1 antigen, IgG and IgM antibodies negative with a normal range of platelet count. ⋯ case report; dengue fever; neonates, Nepal.

Displaced Midshaft Clavicular Fractures among Patients with Clavicular Fracture Admitted to the Orthopaedic Department of a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Midshaft clavicular fractures are common among young adults. Open reduction and internal fixation of displaced midshaft clavicular fractures with plate and screws have been shown to decrease nonunion, symptomatic malunion, and residual shoulder disability compared with non-operative treatment allowing early pain-free movement and early return to work. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of displaced midshaft clavicular fractures among patients with clavicular fractures admitted to the orthopaedics department of a tertiary care centre. ⋯ clavicle; fracture; open fracture reduction; orthopedics.

Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome is a rare Mullerian and mesonephric ductal anomaly characterized by a triad of didelphys uterus, obstructed hemivagina, and ipsilateral renal agenesis complex. This entity is also known as obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly. We present a case of a 24-year-old nulliparous female with Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich who presented with dysmenorrhea and intermenstrual bleeding. The diagnosis was initially made through ultrasound and confirmed on magnetic resonance imaging. The nonspecific nature of symptoms and variability in presentation depending on the classification and type of Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome often leads to misdiagnosis or a delay in diagnosis. Therefore, a high index of suspicion is required. ⋯ case reports; mesonephric ducts; mullerian ducts.

Contrast-induced Nephropathy among Patients Administered with Contrast Material at a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Administration of an intravenous contrast medium, which is used in various routine hospital procedures, can lead to the development of nephropathy in some patients. This contrast-induced nephropathy is one of the most common reasons for hospital-acquired acute kidney injury. This study aimed to find out the prevalence of contrast-induced nephropathy among patients administered with contrast material at a tertiary care centre. ⋯ contrast material; kidney disease; prevalence.

Case ReportsPerioperative Diagnosis and Anaesthetic Management of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension in Pregnancy: A Case Report.
Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is characterised by increased intracranial pressure of unknown aetiology. It is usually seen among obese women who are of childbearing age. With an incidence of 0.9 per 100,000 in women of childbearing age, the incidence in obese women is as high as 19.3 per 100,000. Here, we represent the case of a 31-year-old, non-obese primigravida with hypothyroidism which was diagnosed as idiopathic intracranial hypertension during pregnancy. This patient, was managed with multi-disciplinary considerations so as to avoid complications in perioperative period. ⋯ case reports; cesarean section; idiopathic intracranial hypertension; ultrasonography.
