Case ReportsCentral Venous Catheter-related Thrombosis in a Dialysis Patient: A Case Report.
Hemodialysis is one of the treatment modalities for advanced kidney disease and can help an individual live an active life despite failing kidneys. Although it improves the quality of life, it is not completely risk-free. It has several complications, among which, thrombus formation is common. We report a case of a 63-year-old man who presented at our institution for regular hemodialysis with recurrent arteriovenous graft failure. Because doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that can identify a thrombus in a vein, it is the best initial option for patients with internal jugular vein thrombosis. The use of ultrasound not only can guide a catheter pathway but can also help in early diagnosis and prevent complications following catheterization in a vein with a thrombus. ⋯ central venous catheterization; chronic kidney disease; hemodialysis; thrombus.

Case ReportsD-penicillamine Induced Myasthenia Gravis in Wilson's Disease: A Case Report.
Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular junction disorder characterised by fluctuating muscle weakness, improved by using anti-cholinesterase drugs. In addition to the autoimmune aetiology, various factors such as infections, surgery, and drugs are known to precipitate the condition. We report a case of a 15-year-old boy with D-penicillamine-induced myasthenia gravis who presented with facial diplegia, dysphagia, and drooling of saliva, 6 years after the initiation of treatment for Wilson's disease. Therefore, clinicians should be more vigilant while prescribing patients with chelating drugs like D-penicillamine with regular monitoring of the new symptoms and keeping a very low threshold for the suspicion of myasthenia gravis. ⋯ d-penicillamine; myasthenia gravis; pyridostigmine; Wilson's disease.

Antibiotics Use in Hospitalised COVID-19 Patients in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Antimicrobial resistance is a global health problem. The widespread and improper antibiotics use is the leading cause of antimicrobial resistance. Bacterial co-infection in COVID-19 patients is the basis for the use of antibiotics in the management of COVID-19. COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted antibiotic stewardship and increased the global usage of antibiotics, worsening the antimicrobial resistance problem. The use of antibiotics among COVID-19 patients is high but there are limited studies in the context of Nepal. This study aimed to find out the prevalence of antibiotic use among hospitalised COVID-19 patients in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ antibiotics; bacterial infection; co-infection; COVID-19.

Abnormal Chest Computed Tomography Findings among Admitted Symptomatic COVID-19 Patients in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
COVID-19 has emerged as a pandemic and has varied clinical presentation. Computed Tomography scans of the chest play an important role in evaluating the lung parenchymal changes and aids in better planning the management of COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this study was to find the prevalence of abnormal chest computed tomography findings among admitted symptomatic COVID-19 patients in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ COVID-19; Nepal; pneumonia; prevalence.

Menopausal Symptoms among Postmenopausal Women Visiting Outpatient Department of a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Menopause is defined as the complete cessation of menstruation for consecutive 12 months which occurs due to the loss of follicular activity of ovaries from the late 40s to early 50s. The menopausal symptoms are often distressing but lack of awareness leads to failure in addressing the problem. This study aimed to find out the prevalence of menopausal symptoms among postmenopausal women visiting the outpatient department of a tertiary care centre. ⋯ cross-sectional study; menopause; prevalence; somatic symptoms.
