Metallo-β Lactamase Producing Non-Fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli from Various Clinical Isolates in a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli are common causes of human infections especially nosocomial infections. These organisms are usually resistant to multiple antimicrobial agents including carbapenems. The study aimed to find out the prevalence of metallo-β-lactamase producing non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli among the samples which yielded growth of bacteria in a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ A high prevalence of metallo-β-lactamase production was observed among the nonfermentative gram-negative bacilli than the study done in similar settings. It is mandatory to perform routine monitoring of metallo-β-lactamase producing isolates in clinical laboratories in order to help the clinicians prescribe proper antibiotics.

The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of breast arterial calcifications in women presenting for mammography in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ We found an increase in the number and grade of vascular calcifications in breasts with the patient's age. When present breast arterial calcifications must be mentioned in mammogram report. Identification of such calcifications on mammogram should prompt further screening for atherosclerotic disease.

Case ReportsMetronidazole Induced Cerebellar Toxicity: A Case Report.
Metronidazole is a widely used antibiotic against bacterial and protozoan infections. Even though the therapeutic use of the drug is high, it is associated with some severe side effects like neurotoxicity such as optic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, encephalopathy and cerebellar toxicity. We present a case of a 55-years male presented with dysarthria, who had positive cerebellar sign and magnetic resonance imaging findings suggestive of metronidazole induced cerebellar toxicity following metronidazole therapy for two months in a case of liver abscess. And, the symptoms resolved after cessation of metronidazole.
