Periodontal Disease in Patients Visiting a Tertiary Care Dental Hospital: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Periodontitis is chronic disease leading to tooth loss. Oral hygiene practices combined with regular dental examinations keep oral cavity disease free and maintain periodontal health. The primary objective was to find out the prevalence of periodontal disease of patients measured by the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index and Community Periodontal Index. ⋯ This study suggests deteriorating periodontal health related to age, sex, oral hygiene, smoking, and BMI. As updated information on oral and periodontal health in Nepal is limited, this assessment would help the national policy makers on oral health intervention measures to prevent periodontitis and develop future programs to improve oral health.

Depression, Anxiety, and Stress among First-year Medical Students in a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Medical students are prone to develop stress, anxiety and depression owing to vastness of curriculum, hectic lifestyle, economic burden, and competitiveness of medical field. The study aims to find out the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress among first-year medical students. ⋯ Almost half of the first-year medical students reported some level of depression, anxiety, or stress. It is important to implement programs in the early years of the medical school from the administrative level to help and identify students suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress.

Rupture Uterus in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Rupture uterus is an obstetric catastrophe with poor maternal and fetal outcome. The objective of the study is to determine the prevalence of rupture uterus in pregnancy. ⋯ Rupture uterus most commonly occurred in scarred uterus. Identification of high risk pregnancy, judicious caesarean section, proper labor monitoring, early diagnosis and prompt management are essential in reducing its occurrences.

Single Stage Simultaneous Core Decompression for Ficat Stage I and II Bilateral Femoral Head Osteonecrosis among Hip Surgeries done in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Osteonecrosis of femoral head is a disease affecting young individuals and often occurs in bilateral hips. The purpose of this study is to find out the prevalence of single stage simultaneous core decompression for Ficat stage I and II bilateral femoral head osteonecrosis among total hip surgeries done in a tertiary care center. ⋯ Our study showed that a small proportion of hip surgeries were single stage simultaneous bilateral core decompression for osteonecrosis of femoral head in our setting. Our findings were similar to studies done internationally with a very low complication rate.

Dyslipidemia in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Dyslipidemia is highly prevalent among type 2 diabetic patients. It increases the risk of atherosclerosis and consequent mortality in diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of dyslipidemia among type 2 diabetic patients. ⋯ Dyslipidemia was common among type 2 diabetic patients and was higher in male gender, older age, obesity and longer duration of diabetes. Hence type 2 diabetic patient should undergo the routine monitoring of blood sugar and lipid profile so that any abnormalities can be identified and preventive measures along with interventions can be initiated at the earliest.
