Prevalence of Perinatal Asphyxia in Neonates at a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Perinatal asphyxia is one of the major causes of perinatal and early neonatal mortality in developing countries. The main objective of this study was to observe the prevalence of perinatal asphyxia in babies born at Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital. ⋯ Prevalence of perinatal asphyxia was lower compared to that of other similar tertiary care hospitals. Perinatal asphyxia remains a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Supernumerary kidney is a rare clinical entity with fused supernumerary kidney being even rarer. Caudally located fused right supernumerary kidney with multiple nephrolithiasis was diagnosed in a 69-years-old lady by Computed Tomography Urography. ⋯ Embryological basis of origin of supernumerary kidney, its diagnosis, clinical significance and management are discussed. Fingerprints, serve as one of the crucial tools for identification of the individual for various purposes. Sex, being one of those tools, researchers have suggested the use of fingerprints for gender identification. The objective of the study was to observe the distribution of various fingerprints patterns in the population of a community, together with the most prevalent pattern. ⋯ For standard authenticity of the sexual dimorphism, fingerprint patterns, can also be considered for gender identification purposes.

Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care in Five Major Departments in a Tertiary Care Centre.
Patient satisfaction is an important component of quality nursing care and is often determined by the nursing care in any health institution. The aim of the study is to find the presence of satisfaction among in-ward patients of five major wards at a tertiary care hospital regarding the quality of care provided by nursing staff. ⋯ Most of the patients were satisfied with the nursing care provided in a tertiary care centre. Routine nursing care surveys and immediate feedbacks would keep the authorities updated and deliver good health care.

Mean Auricular Index of the External Ear in Medical Students of a Medical College in Nepal.
The human ear is divided into external, middle and internal ear. The auricle helps in the clinical diagnosis of congenital anomalies and syndromes. The aim of this study is to determine the mean auricular index from the right and left ears, mean measurements of left and right ear and sex-related dimensions of the ear. ⋯ The mean auricular index of the external ear of medical students was within the normal range as compared to the other studies conducted.
