Burden of Alcoholic Liver Disease in a Tertiary Care Center: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Alcoholic liver disease is a serious health problem related to an unhealthy lifestyle. The three most widely recognized forms of alcoholic liver disease are alcoholic fatty liver, acute alcoholic hepatitis, and alcoholic cirrhosis. The main aim of our study is to find out the prevalence of alcoholic liver disease in tertiary care center. ⋯ Prevalence of alcoholic liver disease is low compared to previous studies done in the similar settings. Monitoring these biochemical parameters in alcoholic liver disease at early stage could guide in planning the protocol for the initial treatment.

Patients Understanding of their Diagnosis and Treatment Plans During Discharge in Emergency Ward in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Qualitative Study.
Many patients do not understand their emergency care plan or their discharge instructions. Patients should understand both the care that they received and their discharge instructions. Patients' knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment plan is an integral component of patient education. The objective of the study is to identify and describe the areas of patients' understanding and confusion about emergency care and discharge instructions at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal. ⋯ There is a need to further explore the factors influencing the understanding of the patients regarding their treatment plan. Interventions to understand the health literacy needs and ways to improve the health literacy of the patients are needed.

Case ReportsHuman Albumin and N-Acetylcysteine for Treatment of Fat Embolism: A Case Report.
Fat embolism is a life-threatening condition that mostly occurs after long bones and pelvis fractures and treatment is controversial with many available drugs. We hereby present a case of 53 years male who developed shortness of breath, tachycardia, fever, anemia, distended jugular vein, thrombocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia and was diagnosed to have fat embolism after fracture of femur, tibia, fibula and pubic rami following road traffic accident. ⋯ From this we want to emphasize role of human albumin and N-acetylcysteine in treatment of fat. Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency among Adult Patients in A Tertiary Care Hospital.
The deficiency of vitamin D is major public health problem worldwide. It is deficiency of vitamin D level when blood serum which is below 30ng/ml. The deficiency is associated with various musculoskeletal diseases and autoimmune diseases. The early detection of deficiency plays important role to prevent those diseases. The aim of the study is to find the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among adult population in a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was high compared to previous studies. Vitamin D deficiency was found to be higher in females than males.

Prevalence of Malnutrition in Patients with Liver Cirrhosis in A Tertiary Care Hospital.
Cirrhosis of liver is a progressively deteriorating disease. Medical management consist of treatment and prevention of complications. Nutritional intervention to improve nutritional status of the malnourished patient has favorable impact on prognosis. Traditional measures of nutritional assessment like Body Mass Index and waist circumference are inaccurate. This study was conducted to study the prevalence of malnutrition in cirrhotic patients. ⋯ Malnutrition is very common among cirrhotic patients and its prevalence increased from Child A to Child C status.
