Pronation versus supination maneuvers for the reduction of 'pulled elbow': a randomized clinical trial.
The purpose of this study was to compare the efficiency of the hyperpronation and supination-flexion maneuvers in the reduction of the pulled elbow. ⋯ Although final reduction rates were similar, the hyperpronation maneuver was more efficient at the first attempt, easier for physicians and less painful for the children.

Outcome of brain trauma patients who have a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 3 and bilateral fixed and dilated pupils in the field.
To investigate the outcome of brain trauma patients who had a Glasgow Coma Scale score (GCS) of 3 and bilateral fixed and dilated pupils (BFDP) in the field. ⋯ Patients with a GCS of 3 and BFDP in the field should be resuscitated aggressively, especially if the trauma seems to be not too severe.

In Sweden the public health system is subject of increasing budget problems. Medical training in Sweden does not yet focus on the cost aspects in patients diagnoses and treatment. ⋯ Generally cost awareness was considered low among all participating doctors. The level of experience seemed not to be related to better knowledge about prices. Younger doctors generally tended to underestimate the costs of investigation. Further education will be necessary to raise the level of cost awareness among hospital doctors.

Data on emergency treatment of poisonings are scarce. ⋯ The pattern of poisoning is contrasted with that in other countries. The EMS proved to be a valuable resource for treatment of acute poisoning.
