Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) affects about 10-40% of women presenting to a physician, and is characterised by pain within the minor pelvis persisting for over 6 months. ⋯ Due to the complex aetiology of chronic pelvic pain, the most beneficial effects are obtained when the therapy is based on cooperation of the gynaecologist, physiotherapist, psychologist and interventional radiologist.

Expansion and aerobiology of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. in Slovakia.
The invasive alien species Ambrosia artemisiifolia cause environmental, agronomical and medical problems in many regions of the world, including Slovakia. The purpose of this study was to survey the spread and distribution of this species in Slovakia and to analyse its airborne pollen pattern. ⋯ The number of the populations of A. artemisiifolia has increased considerably in recent years. Besides the most infested areas, high airborne pollen counts were also recorded in territories where the plant species was less abundant. During the study period, the intensity of Ambrosia pollen seasons decreased in Bratislava, probably due to changes in land-use practices, while the increasing trend in the pollen seasons intensity in Banská Bystrica mainly reflects the situation in the ragweed-infested remote areas due to long-range pollen transport.

Comparative StudyComparison of antibacterial-coated and non-coated suture material in intraoral surgery by isolation of adherent bacteria.
In general surgery the incidence of postoperative wound infections is reported to be lower using triclosan-coated sutures. In intraoral surgery, sutures are faced with different bacterial species and the question arises whether the antibacterial-coated suture material has the same positive effects. ⋯ In terms of the total number of oral bacteria, and especially oral pathogens, that adhered to suture material, no reduction was demonstrated for Vicryl Plus. The use of triclosan-coated suture material offers no advantage in intraoral surgery.

Continuous intraoperative neuromonitoring (CIONM) of the recurrent laryngeal nerve is sufficient as the only neuromonitoring technique in thyroidectomy performed because of benign goitre.
Recently, intraoperative neurophysiological neuromonitoring (IONM) of recurrent laryngeal nerves (RLN) has been evolving quickly. This evolution touched many aspects of the technique, leading to continuous stimulation of the RLN with real time analysis of the electrical signal. ⋯ CIONM with RLN visualization in thyroidectomy performed because of benign goitre is as safe as other methods of IONM and gives a continuous confirmation of the electrical integrity of the loop NX-RLN-vocal folds during almost the entire procedure. There is a clinical need for the development of external stimulation of NX (transdermal or trancranial), particularly for minimally invasive techniques in which access to NX is limited (i.e. transoral thyroidectomy).

Risk of exposure to airborne Ambrosia pollen from local and distant sources in Europe - an example from Denmark.
Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. is a noxious invasive alien species in Europe. It is an important aeroallergen and millions of people are exposed to its pollen. ⋯ The high allergenic capacity of Ambrosia pollen means that only small amounts of pollen are relevant for allergy sufferers, and just a few plants will be sufficient to produce enough pollen to affect pollen allergy sufferers within a short distance from the source. It is necessary to adopt control measures to restrict Ambrosia numbers. Recommendations for the removal of all Ambrosia plants can effectively reduce the amount of local pollen, as long as the population of Ambrosia plants is small.
