Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is discussed as an alternative diagnosis to acute coronary syndrome (ACS) for emotionally and physically stressed patients with transient apical akinesis or dyskinesis of the left ventricle (LV) in the absence of coronary artery disease (CAD). ⋯ Takotsubo cardiomyopathy may be an alternative diagnosis to ACS for emotionally and physically stressed patients with transient-apical akinesis or dyskinesis of the LV in the absence of CAD. Because the exact pathophysiology has not been fully elucidated, the optimal management continues to evolve.

Survey of physicians regarding clinical pharmacy services in academic emergency departments.
The prevalence and nature of clinical pharmacy services in academic emergency departments (EDs) were studied. ⋯ A minority of respondents from academic EDs reported that clinical services are provided by a pharmacist working in the ED.

ReviewAnticholinergic medications for managing noisy respirations in adult hospice patients.
Anticholinergic medications for reducing noisy respirations in adult hospice patients are evaluated. ⋯ Parenteral and transdermal anticholinergic medications are useful for the reduction of noisy respirations in hospitalized hospice patients. Difficult administration makes oral and sublingual products less desirable for use in this population.
