ReviewDuloxetine: a balanced and selective norepinephrine- and serotonin-reuptake inhibitor.
The pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, efficacy, safety, drug interactions, dosage and administration, cost, and place in therapy of duloxetine for major depression, pain from diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and stress urinary incontinence are reviewed. ⋯ Duloxetine has been approved for the treatment of MDD and pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in adults.

Advancing patient care through innovative practice: the Clinical Partners Program.
The development, implementation, and outcomes assessment of an innovative pharmacist-managed ambulatory care and community pharmacy practice clinic are described. ⋯ The Clinical Partners Program has improved patient care and provided education and training opportunities for pharmacy students and residents.

ReviewSelecting an anticoagulant for recurrent venous thromboembolism in cancer.
The thrombogenicity of newer anticancer agents and the challenges associated with managing cancer patients on warfarin have led to the evaluation of the low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs) for primary and secondary prophylaxis in this high-risk patient population. ⋯ Despite the absence of oncology-specific guidelines for cancer-associated thrombosis, pharmacists now have a number of new tools available for selecting an anticoagulant, including results from several clinical trials with LMWHs and recent reports from national meetings.

The pharmacotherapy and assessment of postoperative pain in general pharmacy practice settings are reviewed. ⋯ Providing optimal management of postoperative pain is a vital goal for all health care providers. There is substantial potential for pharmacists to help meet this goal.
