Comparative StudyEvaluation and impact of chronic cough: comparison of specific vs generic quality-of-life questionnaires.
Chronic cough is a common condition that has a significant impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). ⋯ Because HRQoL is important to patients, a cough-specific HRQoL instrument, either the CQLQ or LCQ, should be routinely used to optimally evaluate the impact of cough on patients and to evaluate the efficacy of cough-modifying agents.

Comparative StudyAdequacy of the epinephrine autoinjector needle length in delivering epinephrine to the intramuscular tissues.
Epinephrine injected by an autoinjector in the anterolateral aspect of the thigh is the standard of care in the emergency self-treatment of anaphylaxis. In the United States, the autoinjector EpiPen is widely used for the self-treatment of anaphylaxis. ⋯ The distance from skin to muscle for the anterolateral aspect of the thigh is higher in women compared with men. This difference suggests that EpiPen may not deliver epinephrine to the intramuscular tissue in many women.

Comparative StudyAsthma as a risk factor for respiratory complications after adenotonsillectomy in children with obstructive breathing during sleep.
Children with asthma are at increased risk for obstructive breathing during sleep. Adenotonsillectomy, the treatment of choice for obstructive breathing during sleep, is associated with significant postoperative respiratory morbidity. ⋯ In children with obstructive breathing during sleep, the presence of asthma is associated with an increased risk of respiratory complications after adenotonsillectomy.

ReviewStevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis: a review of the literature.
To perform a comprehensive review of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. ⋯ The results of this review call for a widely accepted consensus on diagnostic criteria for Stevens-Johnson and toxic epidermal necrolysis and multicenter collaboration in experimental studies and clinical trials that investigate disease mechanisms and novel therapeutic interventions, respectively.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialMonitoring nebulizer use in children: comparison of electronic and asthma diary data.
Measurement of nebulizer medication adherence that relies on self-report of medication use is subject to recall bias and increased patient burden. Electronic monitoring of nebulizer medication use is relatively new technology and provides an objective measure of nebulizer use. ⋯ Electronic monitoring of nebulizer use provides a more precise measure of long-term medication use than does self-report on diary cards, and it is feasible for use in high-risk populations. However, diary cards seem to be a valid alternative for short-term monitoring of nebulizer use, resulting in only a slight overestimation of medication use.
