Numerous processing methods have been proposed to enhance the survival of fat grafts, but no definitive treatment protocol is available. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains a high concentration of platelets with neovascularization properties and has the potential to promote fat graft survival. ⋯ PRP treatment improved the survival and quality of fat grafts. Safer methods of PRP activation and preparation should be further investigated for potential application in humans.

To determine the number of Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) stages per tumor taken by early- to mid-career Mohs surgeons and to assess other factors affecting number of stages. ⋯ Early- and mid-career Mohs surgeons appear to remove tumors with similar numbers of stages regardless of their experience, case volume, or geographic location. Number of stages varies with anatomic location and tumor type. The authors have indicated no significant interest with commercial supporters.

Improvement in nasolabial folds with a hyaluronic acid filler using a cohesive polydensified matrix technology: results from an 18-month open-label extension trial.
Repeat treatments of nonpermanent dermal fillers are used in the long-term treatment of wrinkles and folds and to volumize. OBJECTIVE To determine the safety and effectiveness of a nonanimal-sourced hyaluronic acid (HA) (which uses a cohesive polydensified matrix (CPM) technology [CPMHA]) for the treatment of nasolabial folds (NLFs) during an 18-month open-label extension trial. ⋯ This CPMHA is a well-tolerated and effective treatment for at least 48 weeks in the majority of subjects for the correction of moderate to severe NLFs with repeat injections given over an 18-month period.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) represents a useful tool for staging melanoma patients. However false-negative SLNB are reported in the literature. ⋯ Our data confirm that SLNB is a useful technique for staging melanoma patients. However, in patients with negative SLNB, a closer follow-up is recommended when ulceration is present. The authors have indicated no significant interest with commercial supporters.
