Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A randomized controlled trial of high-viscosity 2-octyl cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive versus sutures in repairing facial wounds following Mohs micrographic surgery.
High-viscosity 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (HVOCA) is a rapidly polymerizing liquid topical adhesive indicated for epidermal approximation of superficial lacerations and surgical wounds. Use of HVOCA in repair of facial wounds after Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) has not been reported. ⋯ HVOCA tissue adhesive is cosmetically equivalent to epidermal sutures in the linear repair of facial wounds following MMS. This technique represents an additional option for Mohs surgeons.

Although combined use of tretinoin (all-trans-retinoic acid; atRA) and hydroquinone improves various hyperpigmented lesions, the pharmacologic instability of atRA and atRA-induced irritant dermatitis are difficult unsolved problems. ⋯ Nano-atRA gel can improve hyperpigmentation to a similar extent as conventional atRA gel. It also induces irritant dermatitis, but with less erythema.

Operative notes can be generated electronically by manual input of the entire note, free-form oral dictation, or using either an electronic template or a template for dictation. There are few studies that have directly compared these modalities in terms of speed, accuracy, and completeness. ⋯ Electronic templates are a more accurate and rapid method compared to free-form oral dictation for the completion of Mohs micrographic surgery operative notes and have the advantage of being immediately available to review and sign.
