The pain recovery inventory of concerns and expectations: a psychosocial screening instrument to identify intervention needs among patients at elevated risk of back disability.
To reduce a full psychosocial test battery to a brief screening questionnaire to triage return-to-work strategies among patients with low back pain (LBP). ⋯ The reduced measure is a reliable and valid screening measure that can be used to identify early intervention needs among working adults with LBP.

Temporal relationship between lumbar spine surgeries, return to work, and workers' compensation costs in a cohort of injured workers.
Determine the relationship between time to surgery, lost time, and insurance costs. ⋯ The decision to perform lumbar surgery is not necessarily associated with high claim costs or longer time out from work, provided that the determination to operate is early.

The associations between organizational social capital, perceived health, and employees' performance in two Dutch companies.
To examine the associations between organizational (bonding, bridging, and linking) social capital, employees' health, and employees' performance. ⋯ Organizational social capital was found to be a resource for employees' health, with meaningful business implications.

Michigan's work-related amputation surveillance system quantifies and characterizes occupational amputations and facilitates remediation of workplace hazards. ⋯ The surveillance system identified more than twice the number of work-related amputations as estimated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (N = 250) in 2008 and was the impetus for many worksite inspections that otherwise may not have occurred.
