Randomized Controlled TrialCost and effectiveness of laser with phlebectomies compared with foam sclerotherapy in superficial venous insufficiency. Early results of a randomised controlled trial.
Quantify endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) with concurrent phlebectomies and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) in cost and effectiveness at 3 weeks and 3 months. ⋯ UGFS is 3.15 times less expensive than EVLA (£230.24 vs £724.72) with comparable effectiveness but 56% (versus 6%) required additional foam (ISRCTN:03080206).

Treatment of aortic arch aneurysms with a modular transfemoral multibranched stent graft: initial experience.
To present initial experience with a new modular transfemoral multibranched stent graft for treating aortic arch aneurysms. ⋯ We have demonstrated the technical feasibility of a modular transfemoral branched stent graft for treatment of aortic arch aneurysms. The method is relatively safe based on initial experience. More cases and long-term follow up are necessary to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this new device.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySUPERvised exercise therapy or immediate PTA for intermittent claudication in patients with an iliac artery obstruction--a multicentre randomised controlled trial; SUPER study design and rationale.
Treatment of intermittent claudication (IC) due to peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is aimed at improving walking distance and includes secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Both supervised exercise therapy (SET) and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) have proven to be effective in increasing maximum and pain-free walking distance in IC. However, the optimal treatment strategy in patients with IC due to iliac artery stenosis or occlusion remains unclear. ⋯ Based on the results of this proposed large study well-founded adjustments of existing guidelines on the treatment of iliac artery occlusive disease can be implemented (Clinical Trials.gov NCT01385774; Nederlands Trial Register NTR2776).

Mid-term outcomes following emergency endovascular aortic aneurysm repair for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Emergency Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair (eEVAR) is a rapidly evolving approach to ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (rAAA). Yet longer-term outcomes following eEVAR remain unclear. This study compares mid-term outcomes of eEVAR and open rAAA. ⋯ EEVAR is associated with excellent mid-term survival in this cohort. We would recommend eEVAR as the management of choice for rAAA in anatomically suitable patients where local facilities and expertise exist.
